Sporting News lists LSU vs. Miss St as #1 "trap" game

I don't think a whole lot of people would disagree that the team can't overlook Mississippi State. However, it could also be said that every SEC in-conference game could be a "trap" game.

The fact that we play Northwestern St the week before and they play at Auburn is pretty huge. I don't really see this as a trap game though because it's an SEC west opponent an it's being played on thursday primetime. The dawgs are gonna build this game up big time. We'll be ready

I would pick a team thats actually beaten lsu in my lifetime. Maybe kentucky, utenn.

This game is so far from a trap game that it's ridiculous.

that's exactly the attitude that makes it a trap game? especially since MSU is better than both of those schools this year.

A trap game is one that gets overlooked. Moo U isnt going to be overlooked I promise

Especially now that everyone is saying it's a trap game.

Agreed, I think Miss State is a trap game.
I still would vote the WVU game as the #1 trap game for LSU this season

Don't think anyone is overlooking them either. Preseason ranking is #19 and who knows could be undefeated when we play.

On the road in the SEC and on Thursday night means it will be tough. But it isn't sandwiched between two tough games, it is the SEC opener, they're on the road the weekend before the short week = not a trap game for us. If it was between the Oregon and WV games? Sure.

How bout the Miss St vs Bama....the week after Bama plays us....THIS WILL BE THE TRAP GAME...this is States best chance at beating Bama..

That is part of it. The other side is how the players mentally prepare for the game. Do the give 110% at practice that week or is it just another week of practice to get ready for a team that we have beaten 324 times?
If LSU beats Oregon and NW ST, they will be possibly 2 or 3 going into the Miss State game. Not to mention, Oklahoma plays Florida State that weekend too. So LSU could be playing the game and looking to the WVU game (with a possible #1 ranking in the midst)

It's not the number one trap game, they're just going through their top 10 in order and listing trap games.

If people want to talk "trap" games this years is AT Tenn. Not the Miss St one.

Even if State begins to "trap" LSU, Chad Jones will show up out of nowhere in the 4th quarter to save the game.
Bully sold his soul in exchange for the Rod Gibson TD in 1999, and they will never again beat LSU.

Also, just to let the OP know........This isn't their #1 trap game; Sporting news has us as the #1 team and they are giving you the trap game for each of their top 10.
