Wrong. We were picked 5th in the West right before the season started.

The voting contingent at Southeastern Conference Media Days doesn’t appear to have any higher hopes for LSU’s season than did the odds makers in Las Vegas.

LSU was picked to finish fifth in the SEC West by the media, the league office announced Friday morning. Alabama received 263 of a possible 284 first-place votes. Georgia was overwhelmingly selected to oppose the tie in the SEC Championship Game.

Auburn was picked second in the SEC West followed by Mississippi State, Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss and Arkansas. Georgia was followed in the East by South Carolina, Florida, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennesee and Vanderbilt in that order.

Mighty broad statement there, Fella.

O is an HC from the D side of the ball. He hires guys for QB development. E hasn't hurt Burrow any (which beats the hell out of so-called QB gurus - who screw up more QBs than they help.

I hear the honeymoon is ALREADY over between Tua & Sark.

All I’m saying is that overall, he’s done a good job. Why must that be taken to such an extreme?

I’ll also say that if we don’t land some critical linemen in recruiting and don’t make the playoffs this year, I think 2020 will be very critical for Orgerons future here. As in, a 4 loss season could be it.

This year is pivotal. He’s done a good job to this point, but I still expect LSU to win championships.

I don’t get why this has to be an all or nothing discussion. To say he’s done a good job isn’t the same as saying I’m convinced he’s the next Saban or Dabo. Conversely, saying he still needs to win some hardware isn’t saying I’m bashing him or don’t support the program

I believe this year is way more critical. Should tell us if he's a keeper or not.

Ryan Wright, Athlon - 5-7

I agree. This is the year that most of the pieces need to come together. The offense needs to be competent.

A lot of outlets were predicting 7 and 5 or at the most 8 and 4. So he's not lying about this.

He said outlets picking LSU to go .500 “or worse”.

You yourself said 7-5/8-4. He said .500 or worse.

He is literally lying about this. You don’t have to defend it.

WTF? I was cherry picking? I just picked a few at random. I obviously couldn't list them all. I was trying to bolster your argument and show that pundits did predict the 7-5 mark.

What does Les Miles have to do with the 2019 Tigers football program?

So, big step up from #30 to #15

I would certainly think the program they are at plays a little role in these rankings. Then again, maybe not.

(if you buy into those clickbait off-season polls)

Obviously you buy into them. You keep harping on and on about o being #15 and Miles being #30.

LSU was picked by almost every service to go 6-6 or worse.

You said that. So finding a single person who predicted 6-6 and a single person who predicted “or worse” qualifies as “almost every media service” ??

ESPN's computer model had LSU as a dog in 7 out of 12 games (from a 24/7 article):

LSU vs. Miami - 34.3 percent chance of winning

LSU hosts Southeastern, Louisiana - 98.6 percent chance on winning

LSU at Auburn - 17.4 percent chance of winning

LSU hosts Louisiana Tech - 85.7 percent chance of winning

LSU hosts Ole Miss - 69.5 percent chance of winning

LSU at Florida - 35.0 percent chance of winning

LSU hosts Georgia - 22.8 percent chance of winning

LSU hosts Mississippi State - LSU a 40.4 percent chance of winning

LSU hosts Alabama - 22.2 percent chance of winning

LSU at Arkansas - 57.9 percent chance of winning

LSU hosts Rice - 98.5 percent chance of winning

LSU at Texas A&M - 34.8 percent chance of winning

LINK

So, ESPN's computer model published by 24/7 - Stop pretending 6-6 or worse was an outlier opinion. 6-6 or 5-7 was within the range that the pros were putting out there.

as well as having losses like what got miles fired!

That's the thing that makes me laugh my arse off. Things aren't much better than Miles last few years. If they're better at all.

A top 10 final AP ranking is good. But we;re still losing 3 or more games each year. We've still had middle of the road offenses. We've still had games where we've played down to weaker opponents. We've lost to teams that we shouldn't.

And the recruiting classes aren't any better than we got from Miles.

But we got a local guy leading the team. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT!

I know. I wasn't actually holding him to the .500 mark. I was just attempting to show that 7-5 was more the prediction.

Here is a quote from one of the Athlon guys.

Ryan Wright (@RyanWrightRNG)

If LSU wins nine games or better again in 2018, Orgeron deserves Coach of the Year considerations. If LSU fans stay supportive and new offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger can lay down the foundation of his offense, this season should be the building block for title aspirations in 2019

Read the ESPN computer projections above (published by 24/7)

5-7 was the most likely outcome from ESPNs computer projections.

If we are being honest 9-3 should have been what most people expected.
LSU was favored going into Miami game. LSU was not favored @ Auburn vs UGA and vs Alabama.
LSU had beat A&M 6 years in a row and both A&M and UF had new coaches.

I find it hard to believe LSU was picked by almost every service to go 6-6 or worse.

Sure enough, very few predicted this.
