Ron Higgins predicted 7-5, and told fans to chill TF out because you can't fire O for 7-5.
And The Valley Shook predicted 8-4, and told fans to chill TF out because you can't fire O for 8-4.
All the radio guys with the exception of Matt Moscona who I think said 9-3, all predicted somewhere between 7 and 8 wins, and said that would not get O fired and that fans needed to chill TF out.

it was first year coaches with less talented rosters.
at least in 2014 getting blown out by auburn, auburn had a coach who had been there for a couple years as an OC and a couple years as head coach, and a roster that was just as talented. Same with Ole Miss in 2015. That was a roster that had 4 - 5* on it.

Media and perception is very powerful. Derek's job as Propaganda Minister is to ensure that the right people get the blame/credit and that expectation levels stay properly lowered. It's worked quite well, just look at the 180 the fanbase did on Matt Canada and the hero worship going on for a complete unknown in Joe Brady. Not to mention the "rebuild" narrative that started after getting blown out by State and losing to Troy in 2017.

I know we often joke about that dude being some type of Fat Goebels but the campaign to trash Canada after he was let go was pretty obvious and pathetic.
