I would never believe anyone who follows that up with this:

You all need to learn how to filter these Twitter “insiders”. People love clout and attention and no secure, true insider who post shite like this. This is fan boi shite

If someone is

1 clout chasing like this
2 begging for followers “help me hit 1k!!
3 tagging coaches and players in every post they make

Run & unfollow. Or at the very least take whatever they say with a grain of salt

MLB vs WNBA

But we're talking about college sports here - apples and oranges.

Do you have a better comparison?

It's still the same sport. A ton of NFL fans also watch CFB. A ton of NBA fans also watch MBB. Most MLB fans do not watch college baseball. Those are all potential viewers in the future, especially from northern states if the schedule changed

Idk much about WBB but I would guess it's already more popular than the WNBA. There's not much more potential there

I mean yeah, it's the same sport but so I get what your premise is in theory.

But the WNBA and WBB in college really have a drastic difference in motivations for folks to follow them.

Women's college basketball is more popular than the WNBA and IMHO it always will be, very simply because generations old school loyalty feeds into the passion and the tournament setting when their school makes it gets fans engaged in a way it never will be for the WNBA - Caitlyn or no Caitlyn.

So to compare the two sports through a prism of pro ball when we're discussing college, to me is an flawed premise. They just are not the same.

Bottom line is what you are going to start seeing across the board is schools picking and choosing sports then beating the market by over funding certain ones.

Some big schools will even be basically punting on football to big time fund other sports. It's actually already happening. Will still get their football revenue.

Verge just agreed today

LSU vs SC had a max viewership on ABC prime time. Win or lose, we have always been good enough to be there. Five years in a row since Mulkey has been here.

I get sick of seeing football, MBB and baseball lose. Get over yourself. WBB is on the map because of the coach and she's doing well.

Sick of seeing baseball lose? They have won 2 out of the last 3 National Championships.
