It all starts up front... we have ineffective quarterback play and the backs can't get yardage because the line , especially Ciron, can't sustain blocks... there is rarely a pocket for the qb to step up into because the linemen are pushed 5 yards into the backfield... btw, on the screen pass to Ridley if Ciron blocks #7, Ridley has Dickson in front of him blocking and gains 15+ yards on the play

I think Jefferson has all the potential in the world to be a real good QB but he has to have better coaching and mechanics. He is the least of my worries right now and I think he will continue to get better and I like the way he stays in the pocket but he has to learn to get rid of the ball quicker. When he throws it he has a long wind up like a baseball pitcher. I don't think Crowton has done a good job with working with Jefferson's strengths. Crowton has to adjust his gameplan to what Jefferson is comfortable with.

Jefferson is all right but he is not and probably won't ever be a top notch SEC quarterback, but in his defense, he's not being coached up. Our best QB is Chris Garrett, who from all accounts is the "Real Deal," is being redshirted. I also think that our offensive line is not being coached very well and hasn't been very good since Coach Stud has been here. Our technique stinks and our guys are getting manhandled. Also, I love Bobby Hebert and T-Bob but he's way too small to play center in the SEC. He's got to put on weight or we should play Lonergan. He did a pretty good job when T-Bob was hurt. Miles needs to make some coaching staff changes because if he doesn't he will be gone if he hasn't already determined his fate.

choupiquesushi, you gotta be dumbest person on this board.
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO READ?
Coaches want to be the ones to call timeouts.
Coaches told him to spike ball with one sec.

Who, by all accounts, had a better Spring than many thought he would have. Why do people think he's "the best" when the only thing that the coaches/media alluded to was that he seemed sharper in LSU's practices than he did in his high-school games?

I'm not dissing the kid; there just seems to be some exaggeration going on about him. Also, even though it's likely not relevant, I remember a lot of praise for Jarrett Lee before his first official snap in a game for LSU.

Very poorly coached, low football IQ, throws off his back foot and has terrible mechanics. VERY slow release.

This. I'm sure that he's a good kid, but LSU won't win an SEC or NC with him as QB. I'm hoping that Chris Garrett gets his shot next season.

I don't like to knock kids but Jefferson has not performed as well as I would have expected, and my expectations were not that high. But most of his problems are from lack of coaching - his drops tend to be too deep, dropping at times out of the pocket, holding the ball too long, etc. Coaching staff needs to teach clock management, work better routes (never all long except hail mary, late in game always someone to go to on short route near sidelines)and teach him to be a decision maker. All year long he is taught to wait for the play from the sidelines; how can you expect him to make the right call on his own now? Even poor line play reflects largely back on the coaching staff. Use what you have to the best advantage, not in ways you would like but they just can't perform. I have hope for Jefferson. I have no hope for the offensive staff to improve.

Thank God somebody else mentioned this ... and it's gotten worse over time. What the hell kind of a QB coach lets his QB do this? How much worse is it if the team has been having well-documented sack problems?

Would Leach ever let a TT quarterback throw like that in his offense? Would they let a QB throw like that at Okie State? Louisiana Tech? Hawaii? frick, man. It's Bush League crap.

The offensive coaching is beyond horrible.

...and until some of these "know-it-alls" accept this, they shouldn't be allowed to continue with their criticisms of JJ.

This is all true, but JJ will soon be a basket case, like Lee is if things continue like they are. Both QB's have talent, JJ looks very good at times but its obvious that LSU doesn't have a true QB coach.

JJ's problems are continued stupid mistakes, a lack of game IQ. He needs a competent QB coach.

He has a long way to go to be as good as MF. MF made some mistakes but also made great plays, right now I just see mistakes.

And he was making them without very much game experience in his sopomore year.(See Miami destroyed game)

Sorry Doc (fenton). Last time I checked no one wants Texas Tech qbs once they are done in college.
I competed for LSU, they changed my technique and I was never the same.
Is funny how so many of you here like to critique but never played.

Not flaming on jj but he doesn't look comfortable on the field. I am not sure if he is an sec. qb. Seems to have same problems as jr. Takes too long to make a desicion. Hope he emproves or we are in for another long season next yr. Middle teer of the sec.

Jefferson is the 2nd youngest QB with a team in the top 25 (matt barkley is 2 weeks younger).. I think that has more to do with his decisions and play than most are taking in to account... who was the last 19 year old to lead us to success?
