i think JL was brought in to give Jefferson a chance to settle down. He needed the break however the idiot fans weren't really helping the situation with the booing and what not.

This thread shows the true idiocy of people that post here.

Why was Jefferson put back into the game for that last series? The answer is very simple. The aim of that final drive was to run the clock out by keeping the ball on the ground. There was no way we were going to pass the ball. Jefferson was much more of a running threat than Lee, and if you are going to run the ball, Jefferson was the person to have in the game at that point. It gave WV one more thing to have to defend in an obvious running situation.

Hard as it is for some of you idiots to fathom, but it was actually a GOOD coaching move to put Jefferson back in the game at that point.

Actually, I didn't have a problem with this so much. Given the timing, JJ was the better option, because it forced the defense to key on the QB as well as Ridley. With JL in there, the defense knew there was absolutely no reason to pass the ball and stop the clock, so they were stuffing 8 men to stop the single back.

The Read-Option play is not effective with JL. If JL is in the game, The Single I, Power I, and empty backfield shotgun are the only formations which should be run.

Jj came back in because we were going to run the clock out.

If you look at the play calls during the last series most of them were the read option with ridley and Jefferson. If JL was in there that read option does not work. Simple. We were not going to throw a pass. That is why JL sat the last series.

90% of the qb's in the country aren't ground threats! Qb's don't have to be ground threats to be successful.... and its assanine to think other wise. Crowton's offense can be run by someone w/o the threat of being a runner.... and to be honest, JJ isn't much of a running/option threat along with the fact he is a little lacking in that whole passing thing also... I'm not downing the kid personally, just the facts are the facts, he hasn't passed for over 100 yds the last 2 games...

All I'm saying is if neither are effective bc of ol n wr. Give that can maybe run.

Its not the wr fault.... they haven't had a chance to receive a ball, now they have had to extend completely, stop their routes and try to catch balls on their shoe laces... people just b/c a wide reciever touches the ball doesn't always guaranty a catch. these guys aren't pros, 5 stars yes but not pros. the kid can't give them anything to work with, its plain and simple. Oh and when you sit back there for 4-6secs and take a sack that isn't the o-line, its him. Pocket pressence is still horrible, why you think 90% of the plays they have to get his arse out of the pocket? He can't process what needs to be processed. Most of all though, we don't have to have a running presence back there to win games....

I don't have as much of a problem with putting JJ back in to run the clock. JJ has had more game experience and should minimize any exchange problems that could lead to a fumble.

On the other hand I'm extremely disappointed that JL was not given a chance sooner, like the first half. If we wait until he is needed to bring us back from the brink of defeat, I feel that we are setting him up to fail. Let him get some game flow opportunities. PLEASE!
