And it's even more amazing that their best team ever, and maybe THE best team ever, was built when Florida and FSU were two of the top programs in the country.

Louisiana has way too many 4 year schools. Why does Mississippi have two SEC schools and we only have one? LSU would be a better program if we had an Auburn type or Miss State program in N. LA pushing us and the only school that has any chance besides us in D1 is Tech. I doubt it will ever happen though...

completely agree. Well stated. Unfortunately our standard of competition is not LA Tech. I really was impressed by what LA Tech did to LSU, but it does not mean much. I don't take much pleasure from beating LA Tech and watching Bama go 16-0 in 2 years of SEC regular season play. It is too bad our yard stick is not playing in state schools.

WTH are you talking about Bama doesn't have anything to do with this thread.

tech is doing what it can do right now. they arent going to get those 4 or 5 star recruits. never going to happen. but what they have been doing well is getting alot of transfer students. that the only hope they have. the campus is awful and the town isnt much better. the town itself cares more about the ruston bearcats than it does latech. dooley will get them winning season but when he leaves its back to 2 to 3 wins a season

They hung around Boise till late also. Injuries and lack of depth hurt them this year. They're better than W/L record shows and lost some close games to like competition. Watching them the last couple years (8-5 '08), I wonder what that staff could do with SEC talent. The O is usually crisp and has good scheme with rushing attack.

Yeah, thats whats going on right now. But If Tech could recruit most the north la talent they would have a chance to be legit.

If they had the money and fan support they could compete with Miss State and be a contender in the WAC on a yrly basis. Tech has the smallest budget in the WAC yet they are competitive most yrs. They have better recruiting base than Boise State, just not the money or commitment.

The state of La only produces about 20 really good D-I players per year. LSU get's 90% of them.
The others usually go to BSC programs.

I don't think you get top a top 25 ranking with the leftovers. Maybe top 35.

Tech has to many things to worry about (ULM) in N La. than being a MIAMI. They looked ok against LSU and Boise but at other times looked like they could not beat West Monroe. They looked to have lost ground the last few years. Better with Moats and Rattay.

If you watched the docu then you should also realize they need to have some police brutality and riots first.

Tech is nothing special and is in the middle nowhere...Ruston does not even have a airport. The players not offered by LSU might want to play in the SEC and not for a pumped up 1-AA program.

Am I reading this right. Are you saying that North Louisiana has the talent of Miami?

FYI Tech does recruite North Louisiana quite well just the big boys want to play big boy ball so they go to LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss. A&M to name a few.

Plus Tech doesn't have the fans up here that LSU does. These kids grow up wanting to go to LSU and they've all known a disgruntled Tech fan or two that has left a lasting impression with them with how much they HATE LSU. If these kids have the option to go to LSU there's not a single thing Tech could offer them that would get them to go there.
