re: Someone ask Russell Shepard why he layed on his butt after his catch

Just watched the replay again. Shepard slowed down while OBJ coming underneath. It appears OBJ was the intended target but that means Shepard did not run through his route. To come back is not the same as stopping. There is a difference. I believe OBJ ran the correct route and RS broke his off once the ball was in the air.
In any event, it was good fortune that RS made the catch, because it may have been slightly off target for OBJ.

Kinda funny....but when Shepard played in his first game back after his suspension, people were bitching (and rightfully so) that Shepard dropped a couple of passes because he was more concerned about running before he caught the ball....now people bitch that he paid MORE attention to just making sure he caught the ball and didn't worry about running. Wish you all would make up your minds.
I don't think there is anything worth complaining about from this game. We went into the toughest environment imaginable and won.
Having said that, your statement above is ridiculous. It is not too much too expect your WRs to be able to catch and run with it after the catch.
It was an awkward play. The ball hung in the air and players were closing on him. That's why Shepard fell down the way he did. I'm sure when he saw the film he's asking himself why he didn't just keep his feet. It was a mistake. It happens.

I'm just glad Shepard caught it. It shoulda been a TD, but whatever. And Ford needs to watch it when running on the sidelines, he did the same thing last year against Ole Miss.
