During one of his post game interviews, someone asked a question about his decision to put CW back in the game. Jimbo responded with purpose…said he doesn’t make that decision for a potential concussion protocol. Said that he asked whoever if CW was good to go, whoever said yes, Jimbo put him back in. That would be a “cause” incident and Jimbo wasn’t getting trapped on it as a reason to fire him. He has -87m reasons NOT to do something which would get him fired with cause.

I’m not saying firing O for cause would have worked, but LSU could have tried if they wanted to save money. Whether the Guice business or the recruiting stuff with the O-line coach or the boudoir photos with local bimbos. There was plenty of talk on these boards about this at the time. Now I don’t think LSU would’ve got off scot free, but they definitely could’ve used this tactic to negotiate something a lot less than $17 million. It would’ve been skeezy, though. Just like the suggestion A&M do the same with Jimbo. That’s my point.
