Here was another gem of a thread: Who thinks change in QB to Etling would help?

Some quotes:
quote:

I don't think it'll help. You just have racists that think white=smart and a good passer. Frankly, the system is rotten to the core.

quote:

Etling isn't elusive enough, he will get killed

quote:

There is literally another thread where the OP things all we need to do is start Etling and we win. shut the frick up.
quote:

We'd be much worse.

I love how some people are so definitive over something that they clearly know nothing about. To them Etling was worse than Harris and not even worth a try.

Doesn't matter about practice & scrimmage, the QB job belonged to Harris. There was no competition because Les wanted Harris....Les was more dejected about having to remove Harris than being pleased for Etling for making the offense look a lot better.

That doesn't change how BH looked in his starts. From what I've seen, Wisconsin's D wasn't that much different, talent wise, than Moo State. It also doesn't excuse the fact the DE manages to find the OPEN reciever in his progressions where Harris couldn't. I'm not saying DE didn't look like garbage in the scrimmage, he certainly could have. I just don't think the perception of either QB has translated to games. BH as being a legitimate starter in this league or DE being just a backup. I think the opposite is true of both.

maybe it really wasn't the system, just the QB

Could it also be that BH does better without pressure and Etling does better under pressure?

Kinda like at the driving range vs on the course. I always hit golf balls like a pro on the range and then suck it up on the course

this is the EXACT example I just gave to a buddy in my office.

Some players are practice players and some are "gamers." I'm assuming that's the reason because Etling is clearly better and more in control than Harris in game situations. Maybe practice is different. I hope that's it.

I had a high school head coach tell me he watched a practice over the summer and Etling wasn't an SEC QB. Don't wanna put him on blast, but maybe he needs to find a new profession.

The Problem I have with your evaluation is it sucks. Harris looked bad against good and bad competition.

Player evaluation isn't easy as some people think, you have it or you don't. Making broad statements without consideration of many factors is foolish. Like practicing with first teamers vs second teamers. Harris has one more year in the system than Etling. Finally does the person conducting the evaluation suffer from "homerism" of not.

Mike D said the same. I am going to have Moscona ask him on Thursday about that.
