I was hoping we would get a catcher also!

Pretty excited to see Cunningham and Caccamise battle it out. I think Cunningham is much more potent offensively but as a catcher defense and everything should be number one priority over the offense right now.
I expect to see a couple of significant changes next season early.

I feel like every year we have a thread though about how the Softball program is "spiraling backwards" due to players transferring.
We heard this when Selman and Corbello transfered, Lockwood, and Bourg who is now coming back.
I am very dissapointed Dawson won't be back but it is what it is. Obviously with her there was a lot more to the situation. Smith wanted more playing time, as well as satchell.
This has been the only year where Beth has lost a major player, its not like we are losing starters. Hell Auburn is the definition of a mess of a program. An assistant is having too much fun with the players, players are getting arrested and transferring for a lot of legit reasons.
I will say this, if there is something I wish Beth would do more, it would be to play more second stringers during midweeks but every coach has their system but so far it seems to be fine.
As far as "not reaching the next level"
Its just a reality, we will have to up recruiting a little. The 2018, 2019, and 2020 classes are all top 8 classes, so we are already ahead on that aspect.

Your posts and views are Excellent.

As a fan I truly want better defense.
I am tired a bad defense.
Go LSU.
I guess LSU basketball not playing defense has me upset with all teams that have sloppy defense.

What a lot of people don't understand is that in softball, transferring has become a BIG deal all across the nation. For the most part, if a player transfers anywhere except within their current league, they can play immediately and not sit out. Baylor alone has picked up 3 transfers...ALL from the SEC. In this day and age of instant gratification, if a player doesn't like what they see RIGHT NOW on their team, it is easy for them to go find what they perceive as greener grass somewhere else.
If the casual fan gets alarmed because it seems like a lot of players are transferring from LSU, this is very mild compared to some other high profile programs.
Tennessee basically has a revolving door of kids coming and going and has been that way for years. They almost never have more than 1 or 2 seniors on their team because the Weekly's end up running off kids before their 4 years are up...yet Tennessee is always a threat to go to OKC.
Auburn is a 3-ring circus right now and some players couldn't jump off that ship fast enough.
Missouri has an arse for a coach and they also need a turnstile to keep track of who comes and goes.
Go look at the forum "ultimatecollegesoftball.com" and they have a thread for "transfers". I counted at least 50 softball transfers since the season ended. So it isn't just here.
Torina is a great person, but also is very tough. Some kids can't hack it and leave. I don't think it's a bad reflection on anyone....it just is what it is.

I wonder what Clint is selling to these players
They always sign like 7 players per class and half end up gone within like a year or two. It really does amaze me they continue to recruit top athletes with all the baggage under his programs.

Walljasper and Hoover are significantly better than Corbello. I don't understand the argument here.
Every coach does have their favorites but I'm willing to bet you there was a lot more that went on behind the scenes then what you see in the dugout.
I disagree with "significant". If BC can be your ace one year and pitch over 200 innings, you should have enough confidence in her the next year to give her decent innings in midweek starts and some play on the weekends.
Sophomore season 3 era, and hitters hitting barely over 200 against her (200 innings). Junior season, barely over 2 era and you give her 34 innings (one of which was a complete game no hitter). The stats are very comparable between her and Hoover that year and in no way was there a "significant" difference.
My point is that if you can lean on her for everything one year, you find a way to give her reasonable innings if she's pitching well the next year. She got hosed and there is no other way around it.

The only reason Corbello saw a major jump in innings was because Czechner got in trouble and was suspended the rest of the season. Corbello did well in the post season for sure but obviously what we had the following year was way better.
Torina works with the pitchers every day and it was extremely obvious that Corbello still had major control problems. Hoover does at times as well but her wildness still gave a lot of players problems.
I just respectfully disagree on the Corbello argument. Walljasper and Hoover were way ahead of her and its not even close.
Look at who she played though and it was in limited action. I would expect a much lower ERA in limited midweek games.
I think Corbello was a very talented player that just happened to be around when we had two All Americans on the roster, then you add Smith. I can see what you are saying but it was the right move to continue to ride the two horses who are dominant and among the best in the country.

You can't argue with someone like this. Ax to grind...

Former LSU Shortstop Krammer Robinson's mother is head basketball coach at Baylor.
Coincidence?

I hate to say it, but good move by Dawson. This transfer has been known for quite some time but Dawson is not a social media starlet so it wasn't public until Baylor released it. I am not real sure why LSU didn't release it weeks ago when it happened. I seriously doubt we will hear any comment from her or her family regarding this situation.
The two infield transfers coming in are a result of her departure not the other way around.
Dawson was an upgrade at 2nd base from day 1 and should have been an immediate starter. This season, there was no competition for her position. She was told it was to difficult to bench Quinn so she would have to wait her turn and that production at that position didn't matter (this was apparent for the last 3 years).
It is one thing to be beat out, it is another to sit behind players who are not held to a production standard and are simply penciled in 'just because'. If Dawson would have been able to complete for a job and had been beat out she would not be transferring. The staff thought Dawson was purple and gold thru and thru and they could get by with whatever they wanted to do and she would always be around. She informed them otherwise at the end of the year. Total miss by the staff.
Dawson was never in trouble or any of the other things being thrown around. She was just put in an awful situation of not having a chance to compete for a job regardless of how well she performed and how poorly others performed. This would deflate any player. Dawson lost trust in the staff and it is easy to see why.
In retrospect, it is amazing she had the year that she did knowing, no matter what, she was not going to play. She still came out and battled without ever saying a word. I have much respect for her for that. It had to be incredibly difficult to go through this season under these circumstances.
Dawson loves LSU and her family love LSU but sometimes things don't work out and people have to make decisions to protect their interest. This was one of those situations. I wish her nothing but success at Baylor. The Bears got a good one.

I wish her well. We will be fine without her. We don't need the constant drama and whining. Best for all involved. Kind of feel bad for Coach Moore but...Geaux Tigers!

If 357 isn't panicking, then I'm not panicking. I've only followed softball for about 3 seasons (2.5 really) and I've learned to trust what that guy (or gal) says. He (or she) isn't a hot head and always has a calm objective opinion rooted in sound logic.

Haha, yep, because the constant whining and drama on this board has so much impact on the way the programs are run.

We lost a good player and I wish her the best. I'm sure Coach Moore wouldn't mind feeling bad everyday if he could pick up the transfers every year that he did this offseason.

Wasn't referring to "on this board", but that will be another good outcome. Good all the way around.

Without saying a word to the LSU coaches? Seems like she had plenty to say to other school's coaches.
That must have been an awkward WCWS for her.
