Didn't they extend Torina this past offseason? If I'm not mistaken her contract wasn't up so I wonder of Torina was offered the Arizona or Georgia job. Those were the only real "top" job openings this past year. There is no chance she considers the Georgia job (that's not even a lateral move) so I'm thinking she may have leveraged an Arizona offer for an extension.

I'm not sure how Woodward works, but I wonder if there is any scenario where he insists on an assistant change or if he just let's Torina "loyal" herself out of a job.

I didn’t say anything about Gasso to LSU. I said he would have to go get an assistant. But Woodward will stick with Torino because he’s not worried about softball and he’s not going to pay out 4 years of her contract.

Hard to see us put up runs on that Michigan pitcher. Best we can hope is keeping Michigan from scoring many runs.

Lol. And you know this how? Woodward is at least as “worried” about softball as he is about WBB and look at the hire he made there.

Quit posting stupid shite you pull out of your arse.

Even the announcers have noticed how much different this team is acting right now. I just don't see the personality and vocal leadership in that dugout that we are used to seeing from LSU.

More than likely will start against Tech.

Or she will come in right now.

Why was her contract extended after the season she had last year?

Same feeling here. Hope next years class don't figure out what's happening again and again. But nothing turns out great with an elite class anyhow.

Torina's proposed extension will keep her on board through 2026. Her previous contract paid her $410,000 last season and was set to expire next summer. Under her new deal, Torina's annual salary will increase to $430,000 through 2024, then reach $455,000 the final two years of the contract.

Torina, who has coached the softball team for a decade, will also receive $50,000 every year she remains the head coach through a program longevity clause.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but next years class alone isnt going to fix the issues we have. There has to be major changes.

Last season was technically a "success" they made it to the Supers and lost two very close games to the eventual national runner-up. I still think the raise she got was a leverage play but either way she keeps skating by in spite of all the issues with the team.

I agree with that wholeheartedly. But It would be a great disaster to lose a catcher that has been needed here for many years and great players who can be more useful under a new coach than getting destroyed by what is here now. Truly I am for Torino to get it done, but she obviously can't figure out what she is doing. Hopefully she turns it around before she is asked to leave.
