The throw was fine, but she wasted at least a second looking to see the 1B ump's call.

Zero chance she gets another SEC offer, if you can’t win big at LSU it’s hard to see her winning big at a lesser school

I only follow softball on a casual level but I do always look at the results and read game articles in the paper.

And my admittedly not expert opinion on this is that Beth had some commendable and even fairly impressive success early in here tenure but has not maintained that and if fact has regressed and fallen behind her main competitors in her own conference.

She made 4 CWS in her first 6 years - exemplary! But the last one was in 2017! And she hasn't finished better than 5th in the SEC since 2019 after finishing in the top 3 her first 4 years.

It seems to me as if she's falling behind?

I’m no softball guru by any stretch but why take Heavener out when she was pitching well outside the two home runs?

Correct, the trajectory of the program is gradually downward. She hired a good hitting guy, she now needs a great pitching coach and she can retire at LSU with at least 1 natty. That won’t happen however because she has too big an ego, I think she wants All American pitchers so she can say look at me I developed them!! Well, ppl are now looking and it’s ugly… scored 7 twice vs AM and lost, her pitchers lost a 3 run lead in the 6th game 1 and her pitchers lost two leads in the 6th and 7th vs Texas. The spotlight is on Beth, she can no longer hide behind Coach Howard and his offense. The pitching is simply the reason they are losing.

Don't know. I turned on the tv and the texas girl was running around the bases with a homer that put them on top 4 - 3. That's when I started watching.

I think we need to put Ashley in to close out games. She has experience, so the worse she could do is what is going on now.

and she has had that. two AA's with britanny Mack(who i knew well) and Rachele Fico. Then two studs in carly Hoover and Walljasper. not winning a natty with those last 2 in 3 straight years was an abomination.

and i am not bashing berzon or heavener. both are very good pitchers. this level is crazy. i'm almost of the opinion we need to enlarge the fields for college. it is beyond stupid. go to 70 feet basepaths. defense has to play perfect with field, transfer and throw and they are barely throwing runners out. so many beat out throws.

just like we move pitcher rubber back from 35 with 10U to 40 with 12U to 43 with 14U.

these college girls are too fast. i'd increase outfield size also. make all fields instead of basic 200'. push it back to 230 on all fields. 70' basepaths. you do not see almost each baserunner beating out every damn infield play in MLB. this shite is nuts and i have been involved in softball for ages now. These fields are too small for college talent.

Why? I said her throw to home was fine, but she glanced at the 1B ump for a second before making the throw. If she would have just thrown it as soon as she caught it, Bergeron would have caught it cleanly in my opinion and tagged the runner easily.

They still would have lost later on, but I just don't understand your thinking.

Beth Miles = Softball Nikki.

Torina needs to do the right thing after the season and resign like women's basketball Nikki.

She's way past due and she's MEDIOCRITY personified.

I kind of look at this opposite. Heavener has the propensity to get wild wild...she pitched great....had 2 outs in 6th...then gave up a walk which red flags go up...then a hit.....at that point I was hoping she would pull her before it got out of hand. However....berzone is not the answer....she has shown weakness in stressful situations....he'll even up 5 runs in game 2 she came out and walked then had an error on a throw in the 7th...before settling down up 5.....where there should have been no pressure. Our other pitchers are young. We are just lacking g at pitcher. I do think heavener can be elite

How many times in the last couple of weeks has she thrown wild to first in what should be a routine out?

We can bitch all we want and blame someone or something on every loss.
Tigers are right there IMHO. If our (soon to be) All-American 3rd baseman makes a good play on a ball right at her we don't give up tying 3 run homer.
If our All-American pitcher walks their best hitter w RISP we quite possibly get out of 7th inning jam w a win. Torino needs to know these things and come up w some "coaching" analytics every now and then. We get that figured out and make a play in the field w game on the line we'll be fine. Florida ain't ready. They may be good but Tigers are tested and just need to play their game - and the percentages. Can't wait for the Gators!

They do need to go to a pony-league size field. The little League dimensions aren't cutting it any more.
