We were ranked No. 12 last weekend and swept No. 4 Alabama, when do we find out our new rankings for this week? It seems like we have to at least be competing for a top 8 seed at this point.

Edit: RPI: No. 4 Currently NCAA RPI Through 4/29/13

They are in a good spot, you would think, but we'll see how the rest of the season plays out.

Do not worry about the polls. They mean ZERO. You found the key number....the RPI. With an RPI of 4, that should equal national seed and super-regional (softball is set up pretty much like baseball).

As long as they don't get swept at Georgia this weekend, I think the RPI is safe enough for a top 8 seed. The SEC tournament next week is pretty meaningless....they just need to get a minimum of 1 win at GA

We are ranked No. 8 in USA Today poll and No. 7 in ESPN with a RPI at No.4. The softball folks have been hoping to get to No. 8 in the rankings to secure a Super Regional; we'll host a regional for sure. Need to win the Ga. series and win a couple of games in the SEC tourney to insure a Super Regional. This is a fun team to watch even if you've never been a softball fan.

While it would definitely be bad if we started piling up losses I don't think they have to win that many to get a top 8 national seed. There's not 8 better resumes out there and likely won't be after conference tourneys.

Most on here don't care about softball but I'm excited to see how they do in post season. Softball is all about pitching and I knew when fico came here they would make a run

Team Batting Average is so much better than last season:

2013 B.A.- .288
2012 B.A.- .220

2013 HRs - 38 (so far)
2012 HRs - 13

Nice improvement!

I believe they are ranked 7th in the ESPN poll and 8th in the coaches poll. Rankings come out Tuesday afternoon. Usually you can go to the official website of the NCAA after 5pm on Tuesday.

Gotta admit, I've not been a fan of softball. Finally went to the games up here in Fayettenam with the Tigers beating the Swine. It was great and we will be back to see more!! If you haven't been, you don't know what you're missing!!!

Bianka Bell is the truth. The girl has so much power at the plate. We were sitting out on the berm and she hit one over our heads. I also think it is really cool the girls come to the outfield wall to sign autographs. The kids love that stuff.

Defintiely a great job leading the team in HRs and RBIs as a freshman.

All of the freshman have been impressive, Bell, Simmons, and kloss are probably the three better hitters on the team. Our hitting coach has a reputation for building offensive juggernauts. We have seen major improvements in offensive production in only the 2nd year. Next year will probably be one of the best offenses in LSU softball history. Not to mention, the recruits beth has reeled in can all hit for power! Beth has turned out to be a huge steal!

SO we have gotten to the point where discussing softball is legit? What is unemployment rate in Baton Rouge these days?

How many days 'til USA Softball draft?

Not necessarily....I think as long as we don't get swept at UGA then go 0-1 at SEC Tournament, we are in good shape to be Top 8

Hopefully. The softball committee has been quite screwy at times.
