Almost fitting they would load the bases in the first inning without scoring. Seems like they did that 100 times last year.

Actually the pitching distance was moved back from 40 to 43 feet about 12 years ago. That did increase scoring by a good bit... before that, pitchers really dominated the game even more than now.
