Beth doesn't have a clue what to do right now. You are exactly right. That's the problem.

From an offensive philosophy to the approach at the plate we might need some bigger changes. Its just the offense that is the issue. D has been very good lately as has pitching. If this team played average on offense, our record would be the complete opposite in SEC play.

I don't recall Howard Dobson having this many issues... I know its the players job to go out and execute but when the entire lineup can't do anything that immediately screams this is on the coaches.

Howard Dobson has worked under some fantastic programs, including OU. Had success a lot of places. We have grown a lot in Torina tenure, but this season is like WTF. We had multiplying our strikeouts by like ten. Power numbers seem down. We look confused and lost at the plate. I don't have an answer for this. I don't think anyone would have ever expected these type of performances this season

Look, we get it. You and your 6 alters all hate Beth. You've made that clear.

That being said, don't you think Beth has more than earned the right to show that she can fix this? Coaches, especially in very mental games like baseball/softball, should always have all the perfect answers to fix slumps right off the bat?

Can't pin this all on Beth. Her players have to hit the ball. They are not children, they played high school ball. It's not always the coaches fault when players mess up.

Ive seen Beth do things with the lineup that I would do differently, but she knows her players better than all of us do.

Any school would be happy with two trips to the CWS in four years. She can't be that bad.

Wow, this series has to hurt. Only give up 6 runs on the weekend and get swept.

I blame the Saturday-Monday series bullcrap.

Your right. You can't pin it all on Beth.......but she doesn't help herself out at all with the way she coaches bases. She does not coach for the opportunities she has, instead she coaches for opportunities she may have later in the game. Every time Kentucky had a base runner, they would replace her with speed. It doesn't always work but that is coaching to score now and not wasting your speed for a chance you may or may not have later. Bianka on 2nd in bottom of 6th and you don't pinch run? Hoover leading off 7th, gets on, and you have to call time to figure out what you want to do? Did you not have a plan in case she got on? Its things like this that drive me crazy. Watching us have opportunities, see Howard come out the dugout and motion to her for a change and she blows him off because she may need that later down the line. Skip used to always pitch to win that game and worry about what happens later when it happens. Worked out pretty well for him. Beth is a pitching coach, no more than that. A good pitching coach, but she needs to stop worrying about picking up opposing pitchers tendencies and worry about coaching opportunities for the offense.

yes i had two others with me watching the game and we were wondering about baserunners for when Hoover, Walljasper and others get on. I agree with you on that.

To me, they are letting first strikes go by, sometimes two strikes go by and taking one swing at the ball, often at a bad pitch.

Its not like we hit the ball when there were runners on. That isnt the issue here. Its beyond alarming when your team practically is 1-40 with runners on base. That is unheard of, even for some of the shittier teams in college softball. Even teams at the bottom of the conference have at least put up a run or two on Kentucky and Florida lately.

When you are shut out at home 5 of the last 6 home games, that tells me something is wrong. It has definitely raised eyebrows everywhere around the country, you look at our lineup, with our pitchers, you just wonder how this is possible.

Also, I am the biggest Beth Torina fan here but I am really alarmed by one of her post game quotes about feeling better after this game...

Yep, amazing. She walked about six, or seven tonight, but you gotta score runs to win a game.

Agreed and not a knock on Carly, given the offensive woes, but the timing of walks and HBP really sucked. The other team took advantage of just enough of those and our girls simply didn't.

Buy all accounts Ms. Dawson is a great athlete, but that doesn't mean she starts or will be great. I'd bet there are a couple of players on the bench who are "better athletes" than some of the starting 9.

You guys really need to stop reading deep into post game comments from any coach in any sport. They are trying to just get them over with so they can go figure out what really went wrong.
