I feel good for tomorrow yea i know softball pitching wise is different from baseball but State used a lot of pitchers today. Hopefully they get tired easily tomorrow.

Silkwood is there best and you'd think she's pitched enough. Allie can come back. Sydney shut them down in relief so we've got options. Hopefully the bats woke up to carry them anyway.

Yea, it will be interesting in seeing who Torina starts tomorrow. Personally i would start Smith and if she gets in trouble bring in Walljasper but thats just me.

Last night, I was out in the country and though I did catch the game, there was no internet. Wanted to share a few things about the game. Its long, but i was quiet all last night.
First of all, the lineup, I think a lot of people were happy that Falcon was given a chance to play. I think Thornhill is going to be really good, in time, and it was good to see someone getting a chance, especially a senior, to play.
I'd have left Jaquish at clean up, too, and would have tried to reset the defense, and put Serret on the bench, but she does really well at short stop. Her problem at the plate is she never hits the ball on the fat of the bat. She is too close to the plate and does and when she swings, she doesnt contact the ball on the fat of the bat.
I dont understand some of the complaints about Walljasper batting. If she swings at the right pitch, she can get on base. Hoover is a different story. Hoover has a decent eye for the ball but for someone with a really bad batting average to swing at a struggling pitcher's 3-1 pitch, I dont think that is wise at all.
The reason Landry was pinch-hit for is because she has a problem with lefties with a curve ball, as does Griggs. Most slappers do. I truly wish that Landry would go to a swing-away philosophy and occasionally slap or bunt, she has a great, great eye for the ball and so much potential.
Simmons is going to be missed greatly when she is gone. Not just for defense, but for her hitting the ball when no one else can. She does well, it seems, facing lefties.
Bell is coming around, as is Jaquish, and, today will prove me right or wrong, but I think those two have turned the corner on a really ugly slump.
Griggs did better last night, but she has the power to drive the ball in the outfield, and I don't know why she'd slap with bases loaded. She will get better, I think she is coming out slowly.
Quinn has played good second base and has gotten some hits, so she is probably going to stay where she is.
Kloss has been hitting too. I personally prefer Jaquish at catcher since I think she blocks the ball better than Kloss does. Both make mental mistakes that the better catchers don't make. They keep re-playing, over and over, that disastrous run-down in the first game against Moo State.
I agree with a lot of the posts last night showing disappointmen with the coaching. That Kloss situation was the first I have ever seen in my life. Ever.
Many of you complained about not using pinch runners, and I have to agree, with all those girls on the bench that look like they can probably run, I'd have pinch run for Wallasper and Hoover, Falcon, and whoever else needs it.
Watch Michigan, Oklahoma, Auburn, … coached by the best coaches in softball, and even if its first inning, they will pinch run. You play baserunners, always, as potential run-scorers, always, not just at the end of the game.
Thanks to those who watched the game and give inning by inning updates. That Kloss situation had me puzzled for true.
SEC network does not close-caption its softball games. I got a Deaf family that had no idea what was going on last night, and when someone explained it, I was just shocked. That was a first.
Today, I think LSU will win convincingly (knock on wood) and show that they have turned the corner and are past the slump.
I did have a chance to watch Tennessee and Georgia, and the new Freshman, Mattie Moss, is a terror that is going to terrorize the SEC for the remainder of this year, and the next three years to come. Throwing 71 miles an hour, almost consistently, she shut down one of the best hitting teams in the country.
Three SEC games today, cant wait.

Couple of things...
I liked the idea of moving Jaquish down the order a couple of spots, just to shake things up a little. If Torina had it to do over again, I think she would have put Walljasper 5th and Kloss 4th to give Bell some protection. They were pitching around Bell when they could because they didn't respect the 4-hole hitters.
As for the lineup card snafu, that is all on Howard Dobson. He is 100% responsible for the card, so for the trolls who think they know everything and were looking to pile on Torina, you have let your lack of knowledge show through. If you pay any amount of attention at games, you will see that Howard is always the one who goes to the ump with the card to change the lineup. I'm not going to pile on Howard...he made a mistake, as humans are prone to do. Glad we overcame it.
Serrett has to stay in at ss. She is slick and reliable. She must stay on the field. Definite SS of the future.

And for anyone who may see this, after reading the thread after the fact, I have lodged a complaint about educote over on the Help Board. I encourage other posters to go there and voice your complaints. It's a shame to have one anonymous internet jackass ruin it for the rest of us who want to have logical discussions. Enough is enough already.

We're not out of the woods yet. We struggled against Silkwood for a while. It's crazy to think that we had 14 hits, yet only scored 5 runs. We still have trouble stringing hits together. Kudos to the ladies for getting things going late and to Carley for shutting Moo State down. She retired the last 12 batters she faced if I'm correct.

For the record, I'm not an alter of his. Just a fan. I've watched the team for years, the board for longer.

Lol ok....so you would then gladly support his being banned from game threads....

We left 20 runners on base. LSU record. We don't have trouble getting baserunners...it's getting them home that had been the issue.

Doesn't bother me either way. Like I've said before, he is a moron, but everything he's posted on here is not false. His rips of players is unwarranted in most cases. His comments about Beth's hormones last year set a lot of people off, but I think most of us were unaware she was even pregnant. So he knows someone who knows something.

I would have supported, but couldn't find the thread... did it get whacked?

Yeah Serret is an impressive SS. She is a natural there not just raw talent but she was bred for that position

It did....but I have faith that the problem has been addressed...

amen to this...at one time, my whole damn screen was full of nothing but his posts, and none of them had anything of substance in them...

Howard is in charge of line up card, but he makes no offensive substitutions or re entry's, that's all Beth. She forgot to re enter Kloss after inning and Dobson forgot to ask her if she did. But that definitely does not fall squarely on Dobson,s shoulders. The only time you see him out with line up card is when opponents are making change. If you think he can sub or re enter as he pleases, you are mistaken. If it were up to him, there would be a big difference in how we use subs now. So before you insinuate lack of knowledge by anyone, make sure you know what you speak of.

Move on. Let it go. Win Game 3. Win the Series. Get the hell out of Starkville.

Once again you don't have a clue. Kloss is the better catcher and much better hitter than Savannah. But u know it all
