Agree, pitching carried the program in the past. Hitting is terrible, and defense is below average. Haven’t had a decent second baseman in years.

Defense used to be outstanding and I agree, the ineptitude in the field the last 2-3 years is not a fluke. We haven’t had an individual hitter who put the fear of god in opposing pitchers since Bianka Bell and Savanna Jaquish. Pitching right now is average to good.
This team rode Walljasper and Hoover to OKC, along with outstanding defense and the occasional big swatter. And Walljasper was a hard arse, just an intense competitor. This team has lacked grit since she graduated. As far as Dobson coaching up the entire team of hitters? Well, just look at the results.
I like Beth Torina as a coach though I wish she had more of Mulkey’s attitude. Beth seems content to hang Regional banners, at least when the alternative—like Les Miles—is making changes on the coaching staff that involve her friends. KM: “Those Final Four banners are great but not good enough. I came here to win national championships.”

We’re seeing Les miles type loyalty from Beth to Howard the duck. Let’s see if woody puts her on notice.

Back to bite her in the arse. I defended Dobson for years. Facking years. Enough. I can think of two coaches right now available I believe who have built
Programs and coached in the WCWS. Make a
Change of assistants or risk losing your job. A shite ton of money is pumped into this sport now. Woody has gotten serious about WBB. let’s see what he demands out of softball. Maineri has fallen off and is gone. Let’s see if we are just good with winning regionals now in softball.

Sunseri use to be a monster hitter but now rarely makes contact with the ball and has worked her way to .200 BA after the all American sophomore season blasting 17 homers. Thats a major red flag to me.
She has improved pitching wise but surprised at how rough its been at the plate with her.

Seem like a lot of problems at the plate. Very few walks, a lot of pop up on the infield and strike outs.

I blame Dodson for mentoring and changing the hitter's swings this year; it's time for him to be officially placed on notice or lose his job. He's currently out of tune with teaching how to hit. SEC is turning into the hitters league. Either we change or get left behind.
