Very good question, been asking myself this for years. Gamedays in the Fall have turned into more of a social gathering (excuse to get hammered, hang out with friends and party it up, etc.). The Spring Game doesnt cater to that scene. And the schools you mentioned actually care more about their football than we do, plain and simple.

I alwsys hear how LSU fans are so passionate about their Tigers, and yes, there are the passionate fans and diehards, but there just arent as many out there anymore.

I think the biggest reason is the fact that so many people who normally attend LSU home games and the main season ticket holders are from out of the immediate Baton Rouge Area... Immediately adjacent to my seats no one is from Baton Rouge. 4 seats in front of me are from Lake Chrles, behind me Monroe and to the side Laff.... and I am from Houston.... When you commit to a whole day the tailgating and game it is worthwild... Much harder to make it to a spring game... While Baton Rouge is a fairly decent sized town it is not like Tuscalosa or Gainsville or really many of the other SEC schools in that it is the reason for the town's existance... I liken it to Green Bay Wisconisn for those schools, its the only game in town and is well recieved. And like what was mentioned before it is sometimes the only chance for some of the people who don't have tickets to get to go to the games.... And don't underestimate hunting and fishing seasons impacts.....

We're talking about practice, man. I mean, how silly is that? We're talking about practice. I know I'm supposed to be there. I know I'm supposed to lead by example . . . I know it's important . . . I honestly do. But we're talking about practice, man. What are we talking about? Practice?

If someone has said this than I apologize.

The reason IMO. is that alot of LSU fans arent from Baton Rouge. And there is alot of shite to do in other parts of the state, esp when the LSU baseball game is away and on tv. At penn st, OU, and BAMA there is nothing to do in any part of the state and they dont even care about the rest of their athletic programs. I wasnt driving in from NOLA to watch a scrimage where tackling was barely allowed.

I have a question for the University of Southern California fan; when was the last time your university sold out the Los Angeles Coliseum for a regular season NCAA football game? LSU as you know fills every seat in Tiger Stadium on a regular basis year in and year out.

I have a feeling your answer will be "I don't know," since you don't seem to know much about anything.

In 07 the expectations for the season were through the roof and I think there was only abut 25,000.

I think the turnout would be higher if they had it at night and marketed it for tailgaiting.

The Spring Game crowd is made up of mostly players' family members. Bama draws 90K+ because everyone in that state is related!

I was curious to see what attendance at Texas spring game was and found this
quote:

The 2010 Texas Football Spring Jamboree presented by Time Warner Cable will take place on Sunday, April 4, at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and include the annual Fan Fest at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Orange-White Game at 4 p.m.
Admission to all events is free.

quote:

Activities inside the Red McCombs Red Zone begin at 1:30 p.m. and will include an inflatable superslide, moonwalk, carnival games, photos with Big Bertha the bass drum, fan giveaways, silent auctions for Longhorns memorabilia, and more.

Not going to sift through the whole thread, but it's a day game. If they did it at night, I bet more people would come. That's just one of my thoughts.

Whoa, Sparky. Slow down a little. That statement can and will be thrown back in your face. Take out big games, like Florida and Alabama, and there are always plenty of empty seats. I don't care that the official attendance is listed at capacity. We all know that not every seat is full for every game.

Because we have fans who worry about things like crowd attendance At a spring practice game rather than the team?

Now back to the question at hand. People in general don't come to the spring game because it is BORING. Did you see how many people left at halftime last Saturday? Sure, there are some diehard, football hardlegs who go every year, but I guarantee many of the basic fans have been to maybe one or two, realized how boring it was, and just elected not to go back, which I totally agree with.

I assume you left out the word "don't"

Good question...I have no idea. My only guess is that they make it more of a day-long, campus-wide event??
