I have been on the Mangino train. reinforce the coaching booth and we are all set. His offense would fit with Miles too.

the boudin shops on i-10 would welcome mangino's arrival in br

Very true point. But to watch Duke play every week and to put in the work that man does would give anybody a heart attack.

How about Mark Helfrich? Oregon OC. That offense is ridiculous.

Or June Jones? I know he runs a system and shite, but shouldn't it work even better with our caliber of players? I would be excited about hiring Jones.

Todd Monken!
Not so far fetched if Miles were canned, and Alleva was able to land Jack Del Rio. Monken is Del Rio's WR coach in Jacksonville.
But for a wish list of guys LSU could probably get for $450,000, and run offenses Miles could live with?
Andy Ludwig at Cal - may not have full control under Tedford, but did at Utah after Urban left, and at Oregon after Tedford left. ETA: Has consistently produced 375 ypg+ at nearly every stop, and has featured both run and pass.
Don Treadwell at Mich St - LSU can probably overpay him, or if D'Antonio has to step down and he doesn't get the HC gig, could be looking for a job. Has had some surprisingly productive offenses up there.
Dave Baldwin at Utah State - has helped turn around an awful team up there. And was also at Mich St for Smoker's last season, and Stanton's tenure. Also worked under John L. Smith, so has experience with oddball head coaches
Paul Chryst at Wisc - again, you'd think ground and pound with the Badgers, but has been balanced almost perfectly at 200ypg running, and 200 ypg passing, while up there. Produces efficient QB's who don't screw up. Allegedly the highest paid assistant in Big 10, so may have to give him Chief money.
Dirk Koetter - currently Del Rio's OC in Jacksonville. Can obviously run highly productive college offense, and got great production from two guys, in Sam Keller and Rudy Carpenter, who weren't necessarily huge deals in high school, IIRC. ETA: He'd be my first choice of OC if Alleva could replace Miles with Del Rio.

Miles could be successful at LSU for a long time if he replaces Crowton and the gimmicky spread offense with more of a pro-style offense that Miles wants to run and becomes more of a CEO style head coach. He needs to bring in people he can trust. I would love for him to "get the band back together" by bringing back Monken and Henson.
The offense needs to return to more of a Pro-Style system.
1) Steve Logan (rumors were going around that he was the front-runner if he replaced Crowton last year)
2) Todd Monken (IMO, the best position coach LSU has had in a long time. Miles trusts him. Was heavily involved in all of Miles successful offenses in the past. Was heavily, heavily involved in the success of the offense at the end of the 2006 season. Miles should have promoted him instead of hiring Crowton.)
While he is at it, Miles needs to replace the OL coach.
1) Josh Henson (bring back the right-hand-man, clock manager)
2) Pete Mangurian
3) Ben Wilkerson (promote him)

I would like David Shaw at Stanford. Maybe Kliff Kingsbury, that might be something to look at.
these two would be good...kliff runs a split version...almost like leach but more along the lines of sumlin's version in houston...its a great spread offense that does utilize athletic running backs/ wing backs...AKA spencer ware, Shep
and you can still have a power run game...but you need a cuboard full of throwing QB's...shouldnt be a problem to recruit one to LSU...hell houston is full of them...
the problem is miles would have to leave that person alone...let him run it....
and we all know miles is going to stick to his big ten power run ways...
