we just go into these funky stretches where we just have bad bad bad at bats .. especially with RISP ... we let ourselves get into too many defensive counts at the plate and wind up chasing crap in the dirt .. i just hope this team hasn't already peaked this season ..

wasn't he somewhat considered the late inning defensive replacement for Ross last season ??
Yes, he was and that was because Ross was not very good last season, his freshman year. As PM said yesterday, Ty Ross is one of the most, if not THE most improved player in the SEC this season.

He went from not being able to throw a base stealer out last season to gunning down 40% of the runners this season. Plus his batting average is 80+ points higher (.223 in 2011 vs. .305 this season).

Sometimes, I think LSU fans are just stupid. This is like bashing the football team because we lost the National Championship Game. Chill.

We lost 2/3 with one game being in the 10th. We are top 5 in the country and contending for an SEC title. Why start threads with the "what if we lose the rest of our games this season?" scenario? What makes anyone think that will happen?

This "catastrophe syndrome" is getting old. Man up and have some confidence in your incredibly good baseball team.

it's a "what if" scenario question .. not a premonition .. why can't you understand that ?? just like someone could have started a thread, "where would les miles stand in your mind if alabama easily beats us in the BCSNCG" before the game .. the person starting the thread may not wish or think that would happen .. but, like in all sports, anything is possible ..

do i think all of that would happen ?? no .. probably not .. do i think there is no way on earth all of that could happen ? no .. it could .. just a question ..

yeah, Ty has been THE most pleasant surprise this season .. what's the word on him with this emergency appendectomy ? how long are we looking at him being out ? i remember an old teammate of mine in american legion years ago had his appendix out early in the season and never came back .. but he had some complications too ..

All I've heard is "at least two weeks" which would put him out of action until the regionals weekend.

Think I heard PM say 2 weeks best case scenario. He's vital to our championship hopes this year. Snick can't even throw someone out on a pitchout,

ETA: at least it didn't burst.

i hope elleshoe's scenario plays out .. two weeks without him is gonna be tough .. especially if we're walking a lot of people ... i wonder if snikeris hurt his arm or something .. because i remember last year in pre-game, he didn't look bad at all with the gun .. but he looks terrible right now .. a catcher not striking any semblance of fear in a base runner's heart puts a lot of pressure on your defense ..

I think we win a home regional at least however.

If we get paired with someone who is a sleeper like Stanford, we may not advance.

my big concern with a regional is the compressed weekend .. do you burn KG pitching against the four seed in game one ?

frick. True.

I would. hard to climb out of a regional if you lose one. Especially since we don't have a great "4th" starter and weak bats.

IN 09, going with Ross was the right call against southern, because you just knew our bats would put up enough if we had to. I'm not so sure going with Nola or Eades against the 4 seed would secure victory.

Plus, in 09 we had two automatic wins with Coleman and Ranaudo. Not the case with these guys. These guys are good, but not as good as Coleman and Ranaudo.

Some LSU fans are hypersensitive towards anything that resembles criticism towards LSU. I know you're not even making a statement or stating opinion, you're just asking a question.

Their brain reads what you asked, and processes it out as if you typed, "I hate LSU, Manieiri needs to be fired, the fans suck, I just fricked your wife and wrecked your family, and I'm a member of Al Quaida."

To answer your question: win, lose, or not even make it to compete for a national title this year - Sanchez needs to be replaced as hitting coach. A new pitching coach made all the difference in the world, so now it's time to tackle hitting.

why would the conmpressed weekend worry you, when our pitching rotation has been 1 of our strengths this year?

I d be worried about out innate ability to hit into the double play.

Considering he hasn't recruited worth crap the last 2 yrs and everyone knew the team, as a whole, were going to suck hitting the ball, this may be the best coaching he has ever done.

have you been watching the games this season ? mccune falls out of the rotation, eades has struggled the last month and has been dropped to #3, nola is young and runs out of gas early ... pitching was our strength in march .. it isn't right now ... even KG hit a little slump .. but he appears to be out of it ... he can't do it by himself .. the starting pitching as a whole has to step the frick up the rest of the way ...

and i think dunn's biggest impact has been on the bullpen, really .. starting pitching has been an issue of late .. but the pen is keeping us alive in a lot of games ... goody's been a stone cold stopper all season .. what happened yesterday is going to happen to any closer .. but i think we are in good hands if we can him into more save situations the rest of the way ..

sanchez's passive approach at the plate is mind-numbing ..

I love this discussion every year. Unless we're facing a 4 w/ a true ace, you save him for game 2. If we can't beat a 4 w/ Eades, Nola or McCune we're not going too far anyway. We haven't lost a midweek all year, right? That's about the level team we'll be facing as a 4. Save KG for the drivers seat game.

Related question, doesn't PM like to play that game Friday afternoon? Wish he'd move it back to Friday night.

if we can't beat the SWAC champ with McCune we don't deserve to be in a super

Im pretty dissapointed in you if you think because we lost 2 of 3 to vandy we are suddenly struggling......have you been watching games? we have played 50+ games and lost 2 sec series since aub way back when....they have been consistent...
our bats are our weakness.
