So when the committee feels like it, they use wins against ranked opponents

To rationalize their decisions. Wins against ranked opponents ...whose rankings are created by that same committee. Someone tell me what’s wrong with this picture.

How were we ever fooled into thinking this system would improve college football?

The committee clearly decided that they wanted OSU #1, and organized #2-25 based on that decision. What a joke.

Anyone who thought the committee was a better idea to select the top 4 than the BCS system was an idiot to begin with.

That said, LSU is going to have 3 top 10 wins and 4 top 11 after next week, OSU will have 1 top 10 and 3 top 14.

LSU is going to jump OSU and be #1. The committee has always stressed their rankings are fluid and teams can be jumped even when they win. Just like OSU jumped us when we both won, LSU will jump OSU when we beat #4 in a de facto road game.

Everyone is bitching for nothing.

Here are your final rankings:

1. LSU 13-0
2. OSU 13-0
3. Clemson 13-0
4. OU/Baylor 12-1
5. Utah 12-1 (or drop to 9 with a loss and bump everyone up 1 spot)
6. Georgia 11-2
7. Florida 10-2
8. Penn State 10-2
9. Baylor/OU 11-2
10. Auburn 9-3

11. Alabama 10-2
12. Oregon 10-2
13. Wisconsin 10-3
14. Michigan 9-3

Exactly they can pick and choose where teams are ranked to back there case. It’s pretty fricked up if you think about it.

There is zero consistency in their reasoning. It’s all emotion and feelings like a bunch of women.

You notice how it’s always “we feel...” and “wow, they have the best player in America, look at those big plays he made”

That loss to Illinois seemed to help Wisconsin

Too convenient, when UF has two losses to #2 and #4.

What worries me, is that if UGA wins Sat., the CFP will drop LSU from 2 to 5! My theory being, that the CFP doesn’t want 2 teams from the SEC.

That’s when this will get UGLY

Their objective is to pick the 4 best teams. If its us, Ohio State, Clemson, and OU, I think they will have done that, jmo.

Step back for a second and realize that they've also set us up to beat a "playoff" team this week, personally I don't think UGA is the country's 4th best team, you could argue this sets us up to jump to 1.

I get that sick feeling as well. I also don't like all these pundits saying LSU is in regardless.

It seems too convenient to use them as a push for expansion.

Now after saying that, I still think LSU rolls UGA but after this last few shitshows on Tues nights they better win.

I predict either this system won't be in effect a lot longer or major changes will happen. And expanding the playoff field wont help anything.

Not when the committee drops UGA completely out of the Top25 after their second loss this weekend.

i agree- I’m pretty sure this happens, especially if we lose by double digits.

All they keep saying is 'if Georgia beat LSU' because they can't say Wisconsin or Virginia have a chance at winning.

If the CFP did drop LSU to 5 (via a hypothetical loss to UGA), after a road game vs a top 4 team, then they’d have a TON of explaining to do (Ricky Ricardo jokes accepted) - after some of the rankings moves done tonight!

I think many media outlets would cry foul....even if LSU did lose by 2 scores - based on their body of work.

I don’t think it WILL happen, but crazy things have before.

Don't care anymore. LSU is in the playoffs and will have to best whoever we are scheduled to play regardless...starting this weekend with uga. This will only continue to fuel this LSU team. If we come to play like we are capable, I don't see LSU losing to anyone. 3 more wins and we are undefeated national champs. Title is in Nola. Gonna be a fun few weeks to be and lsu tiger fan. I got a great feeling about how this turns out. Geaux tigers.

I just commented on this on the MSB.

Each week their justification changes to justify their ranking of OSU.

One week it was quality of wins, then it was completeness & now it’s wins vs ranked teams.

You nailed it.
They moved Wisconsin from 12 to 8 to have another top ten win for Ohio State. They left Penn State in the top 10, another move to keep Ohio States top 10 wins. Then they move Alabama out of the top ten and drop them 7 spots after losing to a ranked rival on the road, hurting LSU’s strength of schedule.
And lastly, the most egregious act of all. They drop Cincinnati only one spot after losing to a weak Memphis team to keep them in the top 20 to aid Ohio State.
