I think Mett is gonna be great. Right after the NC his exact words were "starting tomorrow this is my team, and I'll be sure this never happens again."

With what potential he already has, the leadership qualities are obviously there. We really need that at the QB position since it seems like it has been clearly lacking.

Remember he was kicked out of Georgia; but then, Cam was kicked out of Florida. We'll discount the character issues if he performs on the field.

Les will probably find a way to frick him up.

He's already looking for the next JJ.

For offense for the entire season, I believe we were 70% rush, 30% pass.

Les miles is the OC of LSU so you have to consider that as well.

Miles had trust issues with Lee and JJ throwing the football. Miles also knew he had a defense that would allow him to win most games, and special teams units that could contribute as well. With this in mind, he didn't let QBs try to win games, rather he tried to keep them from losing games. This approach has worked well for the most part in the past two seasons, as LSU is 24-3. It certainly costs LSU a huge game.

Just when it seemed he was warning up to Lee, Alabama game #1 happened.

Once he trusts a QB, and hopefully he can trust Mett, the ratio will move more towards 50/50 run/pass.

I don't believe most of Miles' career has been option football, overly conservative offensive football. In fact, at Ok State, with productive QBs, I recall them being pro style and vertical, and ran it well. And even at LSU, with JR, Flynn, and even RP who had limited experience, Miles trusted them to throw. I think RP had over 300 yards passing in his first start, and over 200 in the first half alone of the SECCG.

Obviously, this is all just an opinion of mine.

I think he shouldve gotten meaningful playing time this year. We had enough blowouts to get him in.

+1
I think there were opportunities to get him used to "the speed of the game", if nothing else.
only play NW -threw/completed 8-11

It seemed as if we are too afraid of someone making a mistake...as if they are so fragile.

If any coach knows how to waste talent on offense, it is Miles.

If any coach knows how to get great talent and use it, its miles. Every polayer that played this year was very talented 4 running backs that can start at any other SEC school, extremely deep at every position on the def. Just because he didnt put in JL when JJ wasnt doing good and the offesive game plan was doing terrible, you hate him. How about JL wasnt going to class and was in trouble of not graduating and finished three hours short of graduating so he has to go back this semester. That could be a reason I dont know, but you cant say he doesnt use the talent he has around him.

great mechanics. better than Lee and JJ combined. question is, will miles give the reins to stud and let him use the PA pass like we did early this year and take deep shots? when JJ went in full time the deep shots ceased. not too mentionm he was not a good passer anyway.we'll see. with miles there is no telling

You could cut off his arms/legs and he would still be better than you know who.

Lefthash, your realize he only has two years of eligibility left, right?

Your sarcasm meter is broken. Basically, I don't think it matters how he does, many on here are going to bitch and moan about it because no one can live up to the expectations that people have for him right now.

In his first Spring Game, he called an audible at the line for a deep bomb to the WR, hit him in stride, and celebrated like a Boss.

Maybe we'll see some checks - INTO PASSES - instead of checks into qb keepers this year.

We've been hearing people out of practice say that he's been the best qb on the team for some time now.

He's got room to improve. If he learns the playbook, he's got the talent too be a star.

Heck, Miles has only tens plays in the playbook...I think he should know that by now...

Anyone see any problems that may arise?

I've posted this here before, but here's the deal with Mett....

* Brilliant in the film room
* Looks GREAT against the 2nd Defense
* Struggles mightly with the speed of the 1st Defense.

While many will say "well, most people will struggle against our 1st defense", keep in mind that he struggled enough that JJ and JL remained in front of him.

Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees could have gotten special eligibility, transferred to LSU, and they would have sat on the bench behind Jefferson.

2 QB shite was not the problem. The problem was our 2 QBs each had serious limitation.

My opinion is that we didn't get to see enough of him in the season to know how he is in field leadership. He may have all the skills to be a great QB, but CLM didn't choose to showcase any of them or give him more than token game experience "just in case" a need for his skills might arise later in the season. Can anyone think of a game where his skills might have been needed?
