SLOWFLOWPRO, you can't expect 19,20, 21 , and 22 year olds play great every game. The defensive coaches are to blame not to have made changes to cover their backs better. If they don't get that crap tosses to their backs we all would not be so sour right now. Chill. We are fine.

No, our CB's are all-american and our safeties are not being used correctly by the coaches. The problem are all the LB's except for #11.

riley trying to cover brandon james, jeff demps, or percy harvin out of the backfield = easy 6. hopefully the co-DC's really alter their scheme for UF or it'll be a long day

whatever, you say the same shite every year. the problem is due to your gloom this team ends up with 11-12 wins. every team is gunning for lsu. lsu will get the best from every team they play. how would you like to be a fla.,uga, wisconsin, wake forest or usc fan today. they lost and there expectation are the same as lsu's.

It's the general feel on the board right now. I wasn't directing it at just you.

quote:

it has not been great so far this year, however

I think we knew that with the inexperience in the defensive backfield.

quote:

why is LSU always the first team that these teams develop these great offensive plans against?

So no credit whatsoever? They also started a QB they found last week that tons better than Wesley Carroll. He was efficient vs. GT, but that game was over with by the time he got into the game. Maybe you find new confidence in a new leader?

then UTenn's D almost completely shuts them down (226 yards and 7 points)

320 with a shitload coming on a busted play vs. Auburn and 14 points.

our D hasn't lived up to the hype in any game this year. do you think it has?

I don't expect them to be perfect like most do. With an inexperienced defense, again, like we knew they had, you would think that a "bend but don't break" defense that has worked so far has been successful.

IMO, 4-0 is successful.

What a dumb statement.

It's as if you've never watched college football before.

LSU isn't paying you to be defensive coordinator. You would have recruited much better players than we have. You would have perfect schemes for every opponent we play. And you would have the players coached up so well that they would not make a single mistake or misread in any games.

Meanwhile in the real world, our defensive coaches have 20 hours with the players to install a gameplan. And that includes working on offense and special teams. The coaches have to prepare for what they have seen the opponents do in prior games. Simultaneously, our opponents offensive coaches are putting in new wrinkles, and possibly even new plays. When this happens our coaches have to make adjustments during the game to counter what the opponents are doing. Sometimes those adjustments take time to get right, and sometimes we never get them right.

any LB trying to cover those guys = easy 6, so don't single out LSU's LB's. That's just retarded.

we have played 2 really bad offenses, a 1AA team, and one of the worst 1A teams

and 1 of those wins is a real win

we've beaten a 1AA team and 2 horrible 1A teams otherwise

i'm not predicting doom and gloom, especially with UF not looking too hot this year, but i just can't help but think that we're not playing up to our potential right now

i can not stand when people compare one game to another game. how state played vs. georgia tech has no barring as to how they played vs. lsu. state gave lsu there A game and lsu still one by ten pts.

Thank You Prom. We shouldnt expect perfection. We are still one of the few teams in the country that are still undefeated. We won a huge game on the road last week and have avoided any upset. The same cant be said for some other "Great" teams with their "Great defense". According to Nuts and SFP assessment of defense there isnt a great defense in all of college football. They pick and choose what games they wish to compare. Half of our defense are first time starters. SFP is the biggest negatiger on the board. I dont even consider him a tiger fan. He's worst than the gumps and the texards. Hell I like Trio more than him and thats saying something.

you are Nuts. Last night's game was on cruise control after the 1st quarter. At no time was the game or lead in jeopardy.

Slo, I agree on the thing about not bringing pressure. But as far as linebackers missing tackles, I think that is just a lack of focus thing because it was State. They tackled at Auburn pretty well last week, except for when Lester was in the game. So I guess there is some concern for tackling Harvin....

Someone mentioned something before about seeing that Mal-Pev were sort-of experimenting with keeping linebackers in on 3rd downs to let them cover the backs out of the backfield. Obviously this won't happen at Florida, as Florida will have 3 and 4 receiver sets, so we'll have our DB's in the game.

So why ask what's wrong with the defense? You obviously have an issue with the LB's for the most part. You ave 3 new starters and Beckwith is out. I honestly am lost on what you expect. The DL will come around. You think they won't? I just think you guys are jumping the gun on this. They way you guys are coming off, ya'll think a Florida, UGA, or Bama will score 45 points on these guys. There's no reason for me to believe that the defense will be be up on the same level as all three of those teams.

It's not like LSU, in recent years, has played games where they have played up or down to their competition. Riley played pretty well last week, and now this week, people said he's the worst coverage LB in the history of the game.

I just don't buy all this talk about the Tigers having a mediocre defense. reading the board, people are insinuating it. It's retarded.

LSU was also 2 turnovers and one special teams play away from winning by over 40. It goes both ways. We could have scored on the last drive as well and boost that score up another 7 points, but we didnt even try. We never felt any urgency from MSU or we would have stepped up our game. Expect them to come ready to play against UF.

And leading up to that was LSU not on cruise control? Yes, there were a couple turnovers, but I did not see anything other than conservative play from both the offense and defense. Maybe that is a lesson-learned, but the game as a whole was a snooze fest.

If their is one criticism it is that LSU plays unfocused against lackluster teams, but that is not too concerning as long as they come out with the win.
