You think Guidry (currently physically not able to pitch), who throws a slider and 92 mph fastball is a better option starting than Shores, who throws a slider and a 98mph fastball?

No movement on his FB

I don’t think that is the issue. The problem is that he’s not getting offspeed over for strikes, so they can sit on the fastball. Get control of that slider and you will see a different fastball effect.

Yeskie seems to favor the wipeout breaking pitches when his guys are ahead.

Like every coach.

It’s effective to mix in that high fastball, but the breaking ball out of the zone is a winner when your ahead in the count.

This is so dumb. No you don’t. He won’t be here next year anyway. You need to win every game you can, not concede them bc you are patiently waiting for a pitcher to come around that won’t even be here next year. If he can’t find the strike zone then bring in somebody who can.

The premise is that he can and will find the strike zone to a higher degree than he is now.

The problem with that is nobody knows when. Give him 2 more sec series? Is that sufficient

Every coach doesn’t call it 2-3 times in a row with pitchers who can’t locate it.

There’s your problem. Yeskie rarely ever mixes it in.

Practice early in the season?

When he can get his slider hitting the corners consistently he’s much better. If Yeskie could add a good change up to his arsenal he would be scary.

Thats one thing I don’t understand. If you can throw mid to high 90’s, and just have a change up, you’re dangerous.

It’s too late now. He should of been working on that for the last year or so

I don’t think it’s a time issue at all. There is no fire.

Until there’s a better option, you go with the guy who is most likely to figure it out.

Frankly, Shores and Eyanson are in similar spots.

Cowan could be a starter. But it impacts this team negatively if you remove him from his current role. There’s nobody to step into it unless you make Evans that guy…then you lose your closer.

If it’s me, I’m staying the course.

You’re right. I should have said “could have”. No idea why that wasn’t a priority when he showed up on campus.
