Show him the plane. It is far, but he will love it. +1 on the binoculars. Life saver. He will entertain himself for at least one quarter. This may get you into the 3rd quarter. Indian mounds are a must also.

definitely not my place to say - but i think 4 yrs old is too young. Its a very very long, loud, hot, humid (perhaps rainy) night. Your boy will not appreciate what is going on. Sorry, i dont mean this to offend.. just offering my 1 cent

The binocular idea is brilliant, but borrow some opera glasses and that way you will not have to hold them for him and he can look at the mascot, the band, the cheerleaders, and really have fun at the game. Make sure they opera glasses have a strap to put around his neck, otherwise you will being buying a pair

cursing.
bring ear muffs.
Never the less, he will remember the experience for the rest of his life.

"sabans ovaries" I disagree with you. Any time a dad spends with his son one on one is QUALITY time, his dad just needs to make up his mind that the game is not as important as is what is sitting next to him.

Anytime a dad spends with his son is quality time...
but dont force your kid to go to an event he will not enjoy.
if the only time you can spend in saturday in tiger stadium maybe you shouldnt go - and do something else.
Its about giving your son a good time, not forcing him to accompany you to something you enjoy.
its cool.. everyone has the right to do what they think is best for their kids.

I brought both of my boys when they were young. The oldest was fine; the younger got bored - they are so different from one another - so it somewhat depends on how much your kid likes football.
The binoculars are a great idea.
And hancheye is right - anytime you spend with your kids is a good idea. Hopefully, we'll pull away from Vandy and you can leave early.
Have fun!

actually, bring two sets of binoculars. you will need your own at halftime when the golden girls perform :). he won't want to give them up.
also, buy him any concession he wants. i do this with my young ones at ball games because it is time to relax and let go. no wait 'til later or halftime. when the peanut man rolls past, buy it. cokes, cotton candy, etc. space it out, but definitely it is "yes" time.
be prepared to leave at any time. if you commit to that, then you are good. you could even save the tiger cage for the way out if he's upset.
good luck and have fun!

I am...and this experience is all about him. He loves to go visit Mike's cage when we roll through town. I think he'll enjoy it, but if he wants to leave, we'll leave.

Don't listen to those that say too young. I brought both my kids (girl and boy) when they were young. You just go in knowing that it is about them and they probably won't last the whole game. However as they go to more games they become the fans you want them to be. My kids get upset if I go without them now. One is 15 and the other 12.

I'll be taking my almost 5yr old to his first game sat as well. I think he is ready now, we spend weekends at the ballparks for softball tournys and he has a blast. I will be bringing plenty of things to keep him busy at the tailgate. So to the OP if he doesnt make it through the whole game, oh well, a half in TS with your son is better than a whole without him.

I did brought one of mine years ago. Wasn't really a good idea.
Probably better after they start playing ball, 6 or 7 years old.
I won't bring my 15 year old this year; Family Rule kids must be 16 before they can drink regularly with the family. Not a proper place if you're trying to delay the drinking gene for a 6 months.

I've been taking my little boy since he was about to make 4. We usually get out there around 3 o'clock. He loves watching the band come down the hill. Take him to the indian mounds and to visit mike. Before you know it its game time. Now he gets mad when i cant take him. Its great time to spend with them though.
