once again....the majority of the problems Nuss had was when our LG got hurt against A&M. Up until that point he had been sacked twice, and only had I think 5 or 6 picks. It is hard to "read" the field when you have 240 lb linebackers coming untouched right up the middle...over and over.

Sure, he has room to grow, just like JB and JD did, but he has also made some very quick and exceptional plays prior to that injury, and over the last few games, where it seems the light finally turned on with him.

The quick decision and anticipation of a WR coming open, to tie the game against OM, was one of the best overall passes, from a difficulty standpoint, than I have ever seen at any level. Nuss went up against a lot of legit defenses this year compared to years past. SC and OM were elite, and A&M has a damn good front as well as Bama and Florida, and OU. We won't be going up against any more than that next year, and hopefully we will have a more solid OL in the middle.

Nussmeier before the Florida game had been sacked 6 times all season, and we all know he wasn't throwing the ball away to avoid sacks. The pass protection by the LSU OL for the most part has been fine. He just takes too long scanning the field, making decisions, and doesn't have the quickest release I've ever seen. The game is "too fast" for him right now...just like it was for Daniels his first year at LSU. That is why he lived in the VR room to improve that aspect. Someone else mentioned Derek Carr of the Saints which I have brought up in the past. GN IS DC right now. He doesn't take off and run enough....his accuracy is fine when not rushed...when rushed, he panics and starts making bad decisions....and many times he holds the ball too long.

BTW, one caveat. Sloan has not helped him with playcalling. LSU until very recently apparently thought screen passes violated NCAA rules. Also, LSU doesn't throw enough quick slants other than to the Taylor. Maybe the LSU WRers don't like going over the middle. Aaron Anderson had that 60 yard TD reception on a quick slant vs A&M but don't remember a lot of over the middle tries to WRers.
