"Fired for attempting to reduce or revoke scholarships during exit interviews, which is against NCAA rules." - From whatever article I read about this.
Scholarships are year by year and this kind of thing happens at every single program every single year. Something else has to have been going on.

Yeah but normally coaches don't just pull someone's scholarship. They just drop hints and make it clear that if they stay they won't be playing very much.

Rule was changed in 2015 for power 5 conferences... can't pull a scholly based on athletic performance anymore

Goff was really bad, even Gaspard was not that bad.
All coaches do what Goff was trying to do.
Bama just saw an escape plan with a new AD who wants to bring in his guy.
My guess is the first call is to Arizona coach.

Yeah I got caught up in the rule change also. Apparently the rule was changed in 2015 and like was stated is only in effect against Power 5 school.
Ironically Goff who came from LA Tech was able to use that rule last year. Just saying he may have been unaware.
I guess they were trying to create more parity so LSU can lose more midweek games---She what I did there.
This prevents a team like LSU or Auburn from offering a kid 5K in scholarship money as a freshman and then reducing it to 2K the following years.

quote:But, if Rice offers 20K in scholarship money then reduces it to 2K, everything is kosher. Boo.
