Why does LSU continue with this sport? For the last 3 seasons, competing for last place in the conference with the same Coach who has been leading the team for the previous 8 years. Is there some mandate from the conference that LSU can not drop the sport?

Shows the importance of facilities. The LSU Natatorium is not only the worst sporting facility on campus, it's the worst in the conference.
Hard to show potential recruits your serious about competing if you have crappy facilities.

Are they still using that Huey P. Long natatorium built in 1932? That thing was a monstrosity when I was at LSU.

Gymnastics built a Top 6 program in the country with a horrible facility, but the pool is always the reason trotted out as the excuse. Nice try, but it’s the amateurs coaching

LSU had comparable facilities to what everyone else had. There was practice space in the Fieldhouse. The Gymnastics Practice Facility put LSU head and shoulders better than anyone else's.

There is no way to defend the Natatorium. It doesn't even have air conditioning, and you can...or at least you could before the latest band aid put on it...see the outside from the gaps between the bricks.
Every other school in the conference has a better facility. Arkansas's is better and they don't even field a swimming team.

Arkansas doesn’t have a swim team. That team that finished one spot above LSU in the womens’s standings at the 2019 SEC Champs concluded yesterday is spelled ARKANSAS
