You sir are smart. No names but our old fired AD screwed the dog. If he had stood up for his coach like a man we would be even a better team. Two more bigs and a PG. Either way of recruiting or grad transfer. And

We have some of the dumbest basketball fans. For two years Waters was the problem. Now its Mayes.
Tell Wade he shouldn't be putting the ball in Mayes hands at crunch time. He might make a dumb decision.
Without Mays, this team would have a losing record and a loss to Ky last season.
Yep and this entire thread centers around a guy who is third in the sec in assists per game while being second to last in turnovers per game out of that top 5.
Yes that player is javonte smart

Didn’t realize that. Good catch!

typical rant, hounding our guy when he had his first bad game in about a month. Javonte is a dog. He plays hard and it's funny to me when he gets in other players faces, he's got some meanness to him that college bball is lacking.

He takes some horrendous shots at times.
Posted on 1/25/20 at 6:10 pm to GRIZZ
He takes those shots because we don’t really have a starting point that we run our offense through. Lately I would like to see the offense run through Watford . Kid had his lightbulb moment been balling last few games.

I m not hounding Smart at all. If you read that in my post, my bad.

Most of our fans are stupid so they have a preconceived notice then wait until somebody screws up to bitch about him. These same people hated the ball in Mays' hands earlier this season around the VCU and Utah St. games.

Thought we would miss Reid this year. I would love to have Williams back. With the William boys rebounding and rim protecting we would even be better then last year . My opinion.

We don’t have a true point guard this season. Mays and Smart are 2 spot guys sharing the one spot out of need.
Blame that on Alleva and the LSU administration for f’ing up recruiting last spring. We were in line for Lester Quinones last spring who could have taken over the majority of the one spot duties this year but he committed to Memphis.

We don’t have a guard with lateral quickness who can get into the lane at will. It’s a limitation we have to deal with

Hyatt appears to be getting more comfortable.

However, since SEC play has started, he is averaging 14 ppg and 2 turnovers per game while nearly playing the whole game. He has only been under double digits in points one time since SEC play started. Today he had 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 turnovers. Mays had 10 points and 3 turnovers as well. Watford was the MVP, but he had 5 turnovers. People are acting like Smart is averaging 10 turnovers per game. Although he is not Waters, LSU is 6-0 in the SEC and on an 8-game winning streak. Not bad.
Them is facts.

So Smart is not Waters. waters was a top five PG and is in the G league.
No one is going to be Waters. Smart has improved as a PG. he is an athletic slasher really a scoring guard.. not a PG. he is who we have.
Skyler is a good player but not really a PG either.

In a perfect world we would have a true point guard we could either start next to Skylar or bring off the bench and play considerable minutes with a true 3 guard rotation. Unfortunately Bishop isn’t quite ready to play and the Wade suspension screwed up the Quinones recruitment.
However, I really think people overstate Smart’s turnovers and inability to initiate the offense. We really were spoiled with Waters the last two years- his ballhandling and passing ability was NBA level in a college player’s body. If you watched games yesterday you saw almost every team suffering from poor decisions and dumb turnovers. That’s just the state of college basketball in the one and done era.

He does not attack like waters.
Waters is not on the team and neither is Pistol Pete.
WW is working with what he has.
Undefeated in SEC. I’ll take it without complaint.

well to be fair hardly anyone in the college game could attack the rim like waters did. But you're right we dont have a point, or real good shooters or even a big man down low. We are just winning with length and athleticism at every position, but we are winning, and that's all that really matters.
