Tim Corbin has 100% done it better in the last 15 years. He has two titles.

At the end of the day Milazzo and Travinski had the same batting averaged in SEC reg season play. Milazzo had a higher OB%.
Neither kid hit their weight.

What is with you guys that actually think it makes sense to try and do direct comparisons between football and baseball? They don’t equate

With the ability to fill a roster with scholarship players, hence the advantage I spoke of.

Right, they are different.

LSU is baseball royalty.
LSU is not that in football.

Context is key here. Skip coached when 10 teams across the country took the sport seriously. CPM coached when 10 teams in the SEC took it seriously. It’s not apples to apples.

How does Florida have a recruiting advantage?

Florida has superior talent right in their back yard. It produces all of those pitchers that they have on their roster every year. If anything, Florida has underachieved with the first round pitching talent they have had. Every player on their roster is from Florida.

Tell that to Tennessee, Arkansas, Vandy, Florida, USC, Ole Miss, and MSU. None of them care. They all take their programs seriously and aren’t living in the past.

Right. They flew past LSU while Paul was chatting with his 30 year old son in the dugout.

That the best you got? You do realize that means they flew past everyone else too if that was the case? It will never be just one or two good teams in the conference anymore. Get over it. No matter who the new coach is, it will be a challenge to stay at the top every year.

You deserve Johnny Jones, Les Miles, and Paul Mainieri for life. Because that’s good enough for you.

Go be a fan somewhere else where expectations are low.

You ought to be embarrassed that your arguments are so weak that you always have to resort to this type of argument.

My expectations aren’t low. My expectations are realistic. If you think LSU is going to be #1 in the SEC and the nation every year with a new coach then you will end up being disappointed. It ain’t gonna happen. Other programs aren’t about to bow down to us because we are LSU. It will be a challenge every year. If you can’t take that then you go be a fan somewhere else of a team in a conference that has no one to compete against. You seem like that’s what you’re looking for.

#1 in the SEC every year????

When was the last time LSU was number 1 in the SEC?

Roster full of scholarship players. Give LSU that type of advantage over everyone else and then we can talk. If Vandy doesn’t go to the CWS or have the top recruiting class every year then there’s a problem.

You define what you want to know. Do you want to know about our outright SEC championships or SEC tournament championships? 4 regular season championships and 6 conference tournament championships. The last was 2017, same as when we played in the CWS final. Tim Corbin has won 2 SEC tournaments and four regular season titles. Kevin O’Sullivan has 5 regular season titles and two tournament titles. A bunch of Johnny Jones’ and Les Miles’ if you ask me. Since you like to make football comparisons, Les Miles only won the SEC twice.

The only teams that I remember being great in college baseball ca. 1980-1984 were:

1. Texas
2. Oklahoma State
3. Mississippi State
4, Florida State
5. USCw
6. Arizona State
7. U of Miami
8. Cal State Fullerton
9. Wichita State

Today: you have 6 legit teams just in the SEC that can make it to Omaha.

1986-2000: you could buy a six team Regional if you were a top 10 team with fan support and good facilities. Home crowd was an advantage. Win the regional, advance directly to Omaha.

Florida laughs in your face for this. They are national champs (and SEC co-champs)

SEC tournament championships?

Meaningless. Paul takes this tournament far more important that the rest of the coaches. Why burn through your pitching the week before the real postseason starts? It’s nice to win, but Paul putting so much emphasis on that week burns the team out before the real season starts.

There was a lot of failure in Mainieris tenure here. But there was a lot of success to. Personally I think he should have won at least one more title, but I also realize that if you’re someone who complains that he won 1 in 15 you would complain that he won 2 in 15 as well.

It’s kind of what sucks about the next hire. When all is said and done that guy can be the 2nd best LSU baseball coach of all time, sandwiched between Skip and Mainieri, but it still wouldn’t be good enough for this fan base. Unrealistic expectations.
