Stated the BOD DOES NOT influence the AD's selection of the coach. NO Politics in play in the selection and he knew this was not what Charlie wanted to hear or believe.

It was a 1/2 mil. And it was for them to furnish their new home in Miami.

I figured it was about Terry Saban, but don't know what the 1 mil is about

There was a rumor that ole Wayne was dropping checks on Mrs. Terry before Coach even committed to the Dolphins job.

I was most surprised by Skip's statement that he did not get political pressure from Board of Supervisor's on hire and does not expect Alleva to get any pressure from them. Said it will be Alleva's decision.

Also indicated that with Freedom of Information Act, Alleva has to be careful because all emails and phone calls from LSU office are subject to public knowledge.

Scratched Petrino off of the list because of interest in going to the pros.

Fail on Skip's part.

Just said Michigan did in fact over Les the job & for more money
I love this for all the experts who knew for a fact Michigan didn't actually offer Miles the job.

Very. That's small time thinking. You want a coach that the pros want.

it's a waste of time to hire him if he's going to leave immediately.

Gotta love Skip. Did really great things for LSU baseball.

I wonder if he still has the baseball camp concession?

Maybe he thinks hard about it if its from LSU and not Louisville. Skip didn't have a crystal ball. There's no telling what could have happened.

It's a terrible mindset to go into a coaching search with.

And... Petrino was probably clear that he had NFL aspirations. What don't you get?

I'd rather the guy who was upfront about it and was thought to be of that caliber than someone who doesn't even have that option.

Can you imagine Petrino having Russell and Flynn

I'd take those three years

n before someone calls Skip a liar

Why? (even though I know this is sarcasm ) Miles was insane before whatever 2008 did to him.

- Great offense and good defense for 3 straight years

- Took a 9-4 team and went 11-2 and winning the division year one during the Katrina disaster with all the game changes and playing home games at other stadiums, etc. The next year he goes 11-2 sending a shiz ton of high picks into the draft and wins the Sugar Bowl huge over a traditional power, and the next year he goes 11-2 with an SEC title.

- During that time he blew out former powerhouses Notre Dame and Miami in bowl games

Ultimately -
33-6 record
1 BCS Bowl win
1 SEC Title
2 SEC championship appearances
Five 1st round draft picks
Going to the national championship game

He was on fire the first 3 years

ETA: The guy was probably on a lot of people's radars.
