What kind of a straw man is this? There's that 1 idiot who doesn't think he's a Friday night guy, but that's just 1. And nobody is suggesting he move to midweek.

I get what you're doing with this thread--and I actually appreciate seeing their numbers side by side. But most on here (not that have posted in this thread yet) won't be able to handle it and, unfortunately, sides will be taken and we'll wind up "having" to argue against somebody we really like. And I don't want to do that.

But since you've updated the thread today, I'll say it underscores one of the points Lester and I made in that one of the biggest advantages Skenes had was his velocity gave him more room for error. He could groove 100 right down the middle and get away with it. Holman can't groove his and do the same. Which he rarely does anyway. I love the way he moves the ball and hits his spots in and out and up and down. And how he feels comfortable throwing his off speed in any count. He's amazing to watch.

But dude had an amazing outing last night. Struck out 13 in 6 innings and only gave up 1 hit. Yet he still lost ground to Skenes' pace. And he will continue to. This thread will look worse and worse for Hollman as the year goes on. And it will have nothing to do with him, it will be because Skenes was a damn unicorn freak of nature who broke the strikeout record and rarely walked anybody in a year with probably the smallest SEC strike zone in most of our lifetimes.

Just a little hyperbole for the bump, HC.. Dont read too much into it.

And i agree with the points you and Lester made here... just as you said interesting to track them side by side.

True and that still should be fine. LH doesnt have to match Skenes start for start to have a really successful year and get us where we want to go

To be fair that was posted after 4 games. Skens is predictably pulling away... not to take anything away from Luke bc he's been great.. just not GOAT level

I agree it will be interesting. And it's very civil now, and I hope it stays that way. My fear is if Holman has a bad start and gives up 5 runs and doesn't make it out of the 2nd or whatever and we wind up losing, this thread will be bumped by some idiot and it will draw more idiots like a moth to a flame. I just don't want it to turn into a shitting on Luke Holman thread if he has 1 bad outing. And I'd like to think the Rant is above that. But I actually read it.

No doubt. The pen being deeper will allow Jay to feel more comfortable taking him out after 6 (like last night) or 7, even on a night he's dealing in a close game if gets up close to 100 pitches and starts losing a little velocity and/or command. We almost had to have Skenes go 8 every week last year to have a chance to win the weekend. Couldn't afford to burn any pen arms.

By the way, helluva job by Herring last night to finish off the game and save the rest of the pen for today and tomorrow. It looked for a second there like Guidry was gonna have to come in, but Herring battled his way out of it and closed the door. Could pay big dividends.

Something tells me this isn’t your first thread.
