Regardless, I would love to see JJ announce tomorrow that he is starting him on Thursday. Put it in the head of WF they will be facing him in an elimination game if they blow it tomorrow.

Then again, the whole world knows he is starting on Thursday.

You don't see how selfish it is? LSU will make the right call. They know more than anyone here about his arm.

They know more than Paul Skenes knows about his arm?

He's in college not the MLB. He hasn't even signed the dotted line for his insurance yet. Like I said, you're not going to make this call. LSU and Skenes will because they know more than anyone here. Skenes is going to say hand me the ball but LSU might say no to protect him.

Nobody knows if he can handle a consistent 4-5 day rest load either. He might go into MLB his first year and get screwed. shite happens all the time on pitchers. They'll make that determination when he actually signs the dotted line and we get to watch him at the next level.

You're risking his career to win a championship

you then have very little chance to win unless a miracle happens and Florida/TCU have to burn aces early too. You're at a massive disadvantage game 1 and the rest of the series right off the bat.
you seriously think it would take a miracle for LSU to beat Florida?

We still have Floyd and Hurd available for the championship series if Skenes were to go a full start Thursday and TCU/Florida still have to play tomorrow and possibly Thursday too.

The big thing in the pro leagues is all about working up the load on a pitcher before having him back in the rotation. Thats what AAA is for. Skenes is worked up for that kind of work load.

Yes, because you have a short rest BP and Florida's ace probably takes game 1 regardless. He's not a snowflake and some scrub. He's a very good pitcher.

Lol. Florida has 2 Aces and Cags. Pick your poison. No snowflakes from here on out brother. Thursday is Lowder, then Sproat, Waldrep, and Cags. Its the gauntlet

we just had 2 scrubs throw a combined 9-inning shutout and we have arguably the best lineup in the country.

To say it would take a miracle if we get there for LSU to win a 3-game series is absurd. It’s more of a longshot that we beat WF twice in a row than winning a series against UF

Overrated. Cags came on late but has had several struggles this season. Waldrep gets talked about a lot and has great stuff, but he does not have a great ERA and has had several struggles as well. Good staff, but that’s about it. It’s certainly not a pipe dream to beat them.

They've been trying to get away from it some but 4 days rest was always the MLB standard for the 5 man starting rotation. It's not negligent to start Skenes on Thursday for a full start on 4 days rest.

That may be true, but those are players under contract. If Skenes was guaranteed a top 3 draft pick regardless of health then it would be different.......but he is nothing more than an awesome college pitcher as of June 20th.

Look, truth is most pitchers at some point now a days go through TJ surgery, and come out the other side of it just as good as new. Skenes wont lose a lot even if the...I wont even say it but you get my drift

Agreed. Doesn’t mean they aren’t beatable nor haven’t had struggles this season. We’ve faced 3 guys who have had better seasons just this tournament.

Dude, he’s a 6’6”, 250 lb athlete. He’s not a porcelain doll.

He’ll be fine, whatever he decides.

Florida barely beat Virginia and Oral Roberts. Florida lost a series to A&M and got swept by South Carolina. They are good, but not exactly unbeatable.

If he is the sure fire major league pitcher as most think, he'll be pitching on 4 days rest most starts - so may as well start Thursday - so I don't consider that pushing it.
