On 104.5, SI's Ross Dellenger noted, LSU's offensive assistant coach Joe Brady is college football's top assistant coach based on his work up to this point, but he also recognized DC Kevin Steele for coaching a great defense at AUB. Considers LSU's game with Texas the best game of this college season so far, and LSU's QB Joe Burrow get's his vote for the Heisman.

Maybe LSU should try to get Kevin Steel to be its Defensive Coordinator/Linebacker Coach.

SARCASM ALERT!!!!!!!

Maybe LSU fans should wait to see how much Aranda improves in this brutal stretch run vs Fla, Miss St., AUb and Ala? Can we do that?

If they would just make the tackles that are available, that would be a huge improvement.

Not sure if you're serious or not but you do realize he was that already right?

You guys are too quick to replace Aranda. Do you think Aranda all of a sudden has forgotten how to coach, I don’t think so. Several things to think about concerning the defense, maybe we aren’t as talented as we think we are. Losing Devin White has a huge impact on this team especially in the leadership category. Last year we all knew White was the leader, who is the leader of this 2019 defense? This comment I know will receive negative responses and that’s ok, the reality is that a high powered offense that scores really quick doesn’t allow the defense to rest. Remember when Sumlin was coaching A&M, the offense scored quickly thus tiring out the defense.

AU has a tremendous DL. It's much easier to be a good DC when the front 4 can dominate the LOS and get pressure without having to blitz.

I know there have been injuries, but even before the injuries LSU's front 3 or 4 wasn't doing much to pressure the QB. Combine that with the secondary's complete inability to tackle right now and we get what we are seeing at the moment.

Certainly there is time to improve and these first four games seem to be an outlier compared to Aranda's norm. But after Utah St., LSU is going to run up against some formidable defenses and it may not be quite as easy to score as it has been thus far.

No reason to completely panic just yet. But there is reason for at least some concern with the defense.

Actually, I think that’s the biggest question right now. Who is the leader? White was vocal but also played urgent when we needed him to. I haven’t seen either personally, and that’s not a knock but someone has to fill that void.

I look at Delpit, Lawrence and Chaisson to be those guys. In theory, this should be perfect since you have someone at every level of the D.

Besides some of the conservative play calling on D, I think the biggest issue has been tackling. This isn’t Arandas fault.

I would disagree.............
In the game versus Georgia Southern, and in the first half of the Texas game, we did a good job of getting pressure on the quarterback. Additionally, the defense looked very good. We haven't been completely healthy since the second half of the Texas game. So, I think that when we ARE healthy, this defense will be fine.

Tackling is Aranda’s fault. If he insists on good tackling technique, he will get it. These guys are physically capable, it just hasn’t been demanded. Or perhaps taught. I don’t know which.

Steele got a bad rap here... in his one year as defensive coordinator, he only had Godchaux and Lacouture at DT. That was IT. Hard to make do with exactly 2 defensive tackles.

LOL Steele was here, and when he was the Rant thought he was hot garbage and wanted him fired on the reg.

This is rich.

agree.

will also say our personnel may be a little over rated. fulton, stingley, lawrence and both our nts have been great to solid.

everyone else looks over-rated.

Now some fans want Aranda fired. I would just like to see more man coverage and better tackling. ND loss bs Ga because of lesser talent but they damn sure tackled well.

and Quentin Thomas, Gilmore and Herron.

HE had more DT than Aranda had in 2016 or 2017.

no it wasn't. he also had Herron and Gilmore. they played in every game.

the DBs were relatively young that year, especially with Jalen Mills being hurt the first half of the year or so. still shoulda been better on the whole IMO, a whole 7 pts/ game more than the previous year was a bit much.

more power to Steele for resurrecting his career though.

I think our defense had no friggin idea how much they’d be on the field with our offense scoring so quickly.
They need to get in top shape over the next 2 weeks off
