I agree with that. I am really looking forward to watching Mathieu for the next 2-3 years.

I think you are getting a little ambitious with your 09 Bama prediction. While I agree we would have a chance to win, it was by no means a sure thing.

I didn't say THAT I thought we would have one the Bama game, I said that is what the "whatiffers" did. You have the negative "whatiffers" like you who try to spin wins and then the positive "whatiffers" who try and spin a loss. I NEVER "what if", either way, it makes no sense.

Mathieu is the definition of 'gamer'

He shows up when the lights turn on. He gets his nose in on every big play.

This is the most bullshite argument ever, yet people love to use it.

Yeah, maybe we were 3 plays away from 7-5, but we weren't. We were 11-2, and all the crying in the world can't take those wins away.

BTW, the flipside is that we were 3 plays away from 12-0. In fact, we were probably closer to 12-0 than 7-5, but I understand. There is no brightside in your miserble world.

wow..logical ranter? No way...

For every "what if" someone can come up with for a win...there is a "what if" for a loss....how novel..

I'm pretty sure I acknowledged that fact. Everybody has a right to their opinion, I just think a 12-1/13-0 expectation for next year is little high, especially with road games at UT, Bama, WVU and Miss. St. and a neutral site game with Oregon. I think 9-3 is probably more realistic.

One thing is for sure, as long as Les is roaming the sidelines, it will be entertaining.

Really? So you can you point to three plays in the Auburn and Arkansas game and say with 100% certainty that if that play had turned out differently we would have won. Because I can point to three specific plays in the UT, UF and UNC games and make that statement.

Ok..at least you've put down the whiskey bottle for awhile..

You are coming down to earth...mostly because next year's schedule is absolutely nasty. If LSU went 9-3..i wouldnt be surprised.

However..where we differ..is that if LSU went 11-1...wins the SEC and NC game...I also wouldnt be surprised.

Les Miles has been a successful coach wherever and whenever he has coached. He was a very successful offensive coordinator at OSU...3 of the best offensive years OSU ever had. And as a head coach for OSU..he turned the program around for the most part. He was also a very good assistant coach in the NFL. Just because the guy isnt a great speaker and has had a couple of time management gaffes...doesnt mean he isnt a damn good coach. Ive seen Belichick...one of the best NFL coaches ever...make several idiotic calls/decisions in the heat of the moment.

But still...if you arent optimistic about the next few years (yes..depending on the OC hire)...then you arent being realistic. This team is absolutely LOADED. And Miles deserves credit for that.

I agree he is a hell of recruiter and a good college football coach. I'm just surprised at the new wave of expectations for next year. In my opinion, he doesn't have the attention to detail that it will take to go 11-1 in the SEC West (which is a lot tougher than going 11-1 in any other division in the country).

I think if you were to put LSU in the Big 12 (now 10), then I would expect 11-1 or 12-0.

With that said, here is to a fun off season and hopefully I will eat a lot of crow next year.

Seriously. I mean, when did it become OK to be happy about an 11 win season?

And I can point to 3-4 unlucky plays in each of those games, that if hadn't happened, LSU wins easily.

Someone already mentioned Ridley's fumbles vs UNC. They don't happen its a blowout.

VS FLA, if Nevis doesn't hit Brantley's facemask while sacking him for a safety the rout was on.

Tenn, we played like arse, but we were one or 2 plays away from easy victory. Hell we more than had twice their total yardage.

As far as the 2 losses, I'd have to rewatch in order to pickout 3 plays that would have led to a different outcome. But the games were close enough that LSu could have won with break here or there.

The point is, no matter how they got there, LSU won 11 games (no matter how much you or others wish they hadn't) and at the end of the day, all that matters is wins.

You know what happens if LSU wins every game next year like they beat tenn this year?

Tigers are national champs.

Les Miles is 62-17,5-1 Bowl Games, beaten 23 Top 25 Teams,Won a National Championship. You don't like him,so be it. But if you fire him,who you going to get thats better. Miles beat Nick Saban this year when both coaches having their own players. LSU 11-2,Alabama 10-3. Nick Saban won the Alabama NC with Mike Shula players (3rd yr,same as Miles). Tell me who's better ???

Have to disagree here.

Breaking up every sentence makes it easier to read.

The stories some people post in one paragraph are usually passed over by many here.

I'm sure someone will have a rebuttal to that too.

Like i said...LSU hasnt gone undefeated in the SEC since 1970...so i def dont expect an undefeated season. But i think Miles is a better coach than you give him credit for..but thats just my opinion based on alot of years playing and watching football.

I really dont understand people who arent happy to have Les as our coach.

What do you think LSU's record would be in '08 and '09 if Miles didnt get rid of RP? I really think that set LSU back a year at least...if not two. Any rational person would say LSU would have had at least 1 more win each of the last 2 years with RP...and most likely 2 more in '08. J Lee's INTs were costly in a number of games...regardless of how bad Malveto's defense was.

I would wager, based on tuptiger's original post, that he has not had a bj in 10 years.

So Saban started with LSU in 2000. Took them to the SEC/NC game in 2003. Guess we can say the same about him. Wasn't entirely composed of his own players.

Saban then took over the Alabama job in 2007. Took the Tide to the SEC championship in 2008/2009 and won a NC in 2009.....again with a team not entirely composed of his players.

What's the difference? Is Saban a bad coach? ND has a top recruiting class every year, yet they suck. Give Miles credit. Coaching and not just players win championships.
