I don’t think he’s going to be that great.

And the kid does not look well. He has kind of a sick look about him. He looks like there’s something wrong with him.

He 1000% perfectly fine and has a nutritionist, super fit, super healthy, and what you're saying can't be further from the truth

He’s a true freshman. He will be the starter next year. Murphy will either sit or be in the portal.

Saw where Ewers said he was coming back next yr..so no, Manning wouldn't start

LSU will pull a ready to start qb out the portal! Nuss will be successful at lsu but needs competition. I don’t see a freshman being able to work with nuss, but I could be wrong.

He would still sit the bench for 2 years or more depending on BU signing. He would be better off at a UVA, UNC, MU or UF.

Why not? Let him compete with Nuss and lose out to prove a point.

Nussmeier, Collins, Hurley, and hopefully Underwood can take us where we want to go.

Most of the replies in this thread are fricking embarrassing and reeks of the tiny dick syndrome that so many LSU fans continue to suffer from.

However, you make an interesting point that I disagree with slightly. Underwood wouldn’t be here until ‘25. And there’s just no way that we can go into ‘24 with only Nuss and raw, redshirt freshman Collins and barely 17-year-old Hurley who seems to have accuracy issues backing him up. We HAVE to get a 4th scholarship QB from the portal. Next season is just too crucial in the building of the program to have to punt it if, God forbid, Nuss tears an ACL or something early in the year.

I think BK has to be careful who he brings in, though. Of course you want to bring in a guy with a little experience to maybe push Nuss a bit and hopefully settle in as the clear cut #2 who could win a couple of games if needed. But you can’t bring in a guy so good that you basically have to promise him the starting job to entice him to come. Otherwise, Nuss leaves and we’re right back where we started with only 3 scholarship guys, and the #2 and #3 not being anywhere near ready. I’m not sure that guy exists anyway, and I think it’d have to be like a Caleb Williams type (obviously not actually him) to scare Nuss off. He’s clearly confident and not scared of completion. But it’s got to be somebody good enough to where the gap between Nuss and him isn’t nearly as big as the gap between Nuss and Collins (I assume he’s at least a year or 2 away). I don’t think a guy with only 1 year of eligibility left would come, maybe not even 2. It might have to be a 2nd or 3rd year guy. Now that might scare off Collins, but I think he’d at least wait until after the ‘24 season to transfer if he did. He’s not ready to start next year at any big time school and would probably get better development at LSU under Sloan/Denbrock/BK than anywhere else.

As far as Underwood, I don’t think guys like him worry about the depth chart. Nuss will either play so well in ‘24 before Underwood signs that it will look like he’s declaring early or he won’t play that well and Underwood will think he can come in and supplant him as a true freshman. He may not, but worst case scenario (to him), he earns the #2 gig, gets some playing time backing up Nuss in ‘25, then is ready to take over in ‘26 and ‘27. I don’t think he views either Collins or Hurley as threats. (They may be, you never know how kids will develop, pick up the offense, you can’t predict injuries, etc…I just don’t think they worry him at all. I’m sure the pitch to him is that they’ll design the offense around him and showcase him like they’re doing Jayden this year).

Bottom line—it’s a must we bring in a guy from the portal this year, but BK will have to be strategic about it. We simply can’t be a Nuss ACL in Vegas away from having to play an entire season with just Collins and Hurley. The stakes are just too high in year 3 of a rebuild when to take that chance. Especially with Texas and OU joining the league next year.

Our QB room is too good. Hurley is a proven winner and leader and will come in and sit under Nuss next year. No reason to add anyone else if you feel Underwood is coming in 2025.

I’d bet it’s Ole Miss.

I think it is more likely to end up at an SEC named Texas next year. He should leave, though, he can't beat out Malik Murphy.
