I have some critical thoughts about Coach Miles, but, I hope that I'd never express this criticism in a rude or impolite manner, because I respect him. I sometime laugh at LSU football mistakes and follies, but, I don't meant to be disrespectful towards LSU. I'm just a fan in the peanut gallery.

Let's say you have a football team. You have a choice of head coach between Miles & Saban. Everyone on here would pick Saban. Period. I defended a miles with the records/bowl victories/head to head vs. Saban, but I can't defend him anymore. Saban put miles & lsu in their place on 1-9. Barrett Jones was right. Order was restored.

LSU will go bargain basement hunting for a coach when we need one.

I have no confidence in the LSU administration to conduct a flawless, professional, thorough and complete coaching search.

There are professional coaching search and hiring firms that can conduct a search, interview, and hiring process, but, I have no reason to believe that LSU would spend the money necessary to do that.

When LSU one day must replace Coach Miles, the odds are that it will be another bargain basement hire like Gerry DiNardo or Curley Hallman. This university has never done anything to cause me to believe otherwise.

That's why I say that Miles is the best LSU can do. I myself do not have an inferiority complex, but, I do believe and it is my humble opinion that Louisiana State University football has an inferiority complex.

I watch a number of past LSU games while Saban was coach on Comcast...I can easily say the Saban who currently coach's Bama is significantly better than the LSU version...I am not sure its due to his time in the NFL or not...LSU Saban made some bone headed decisions and teams with untimely penalties..Its odd to ever see a flag thrown on a Saban/Bama team...So I am not sure if its even fair to compare Saban now to the Saban we had versus Miles..

Then explain why Saban didn't go undefeated with his 2011 squad? That team was super talented with a lot of experience, but we still managed to beat them at home.

In any event, I believe his statement is accurate.

People think the LSU machinery will automatically crank out a great football team no matter who's at the helm. They're mistaken.

USC has every competitive advantage a team can have and they're in the dumps. The wrong hire can kill a program no matter how great their resources are. People need to remember that when they wish Miles to be fired or whatever. The next guy could be absolutely horrible, and odds are they would be not as successful as Miles has been.

Coach Saban is a driven and professional man, and, it seems likely that he's gotten better in his line of work. This is normal for those who are among the very best in their line of work.

Normal folks will tend to regress a bit and not experience sustained improvement over the course of the years.

See Bama in the Shula years; which further proves my point that Bama + Saban = perfect storm.

ETA: and for that matter, with the type of recruiter that Miles is I'm sure he would have huge success at Bama too. So would Urban Meyer.

Right!! I think to show Saban who the real better coach is we ought to print this and all of Miles other accomplishments on Sabans 5th Crystal ball he has won after this season!! That way he will know that Miles is better. Crystal ball, bah!! He will rue the day he didn't beat more ranked teams at LSU than Miles did. Lucky he has those 5 Crystal balls, cause Miles has a lot of things he has done better than Saban to put on them. Saban, on the other hand, can put all his on the one Crystal ball Miles will ever win, since there isn't much he has done better than Miles. Good show man, you really linked us Saban fans!!!

Bama has won 3 out of the last 4 NC and is working on their 3rd in a row under Nick Saban,Sabans made Miles look like a clown in the LSU/Bama NC game...I'm nearly 100% sure if he would have stayed her at LSU...we would be where Bama is right now...you are the one that's butt hurt over Saban...time to let it go...Miles is a good coach, don't get me wrong, but Saban is better.

It is certainly not my belief that "Miles is a horrible coach." IMHO, he has weaknesses and flaws. He lacks the insight to recognize his own flaws. He's not good at self-assessment. He's not driven enough to sustain continued trends of improvement in all facets of his profession.

None of that makes him a horrible, bad or even mediocre coach. He's affable, solid, dependable, likeable and capable. He's perfect for LSU and Louisiana.

It all would have gone away except for 1/9 when Miles stood on the sidelines with a blank stare and a total inability to handle the situation.

He had us totally unprepared for that game and refused to make any adjustments. Just left JJ in the game and continued to hand it off in the gut. Showed no "want" to win that game while under a public microscope. He choked and BAD.

Last fall - chance at some redemption. All those great Soph players that are now Jrs knock the crap out of AL except when the last 2 minutes of each half hit - BINGO, 3rd and Chavis. We blow a chance to get back to the big game.

All the Jrs say enough is enough with this coaching staff and bolt to the NFL. Even Chris Faulk leaves instead of coming back to take a shot at the 1st round and big dollars.

Miles had 2 shots in less than a year to get rid of the Saban ghost and failed.

He plays LSU against ARK and now has a contract that is basically paying him a half million a game for the rest of his career. LSU has him regardless of whether we go 6 -6 or 14 -0.

In the meantime, Saban with one BCSNC at AL gets 2 more the last 2 seasons at the expense of LSU and Miles. He is sitting at #1 kicking the crap out of teams while Miles loses to an average GA team and of all things, OM who is playing walk on freshman and without 6 starters.

To add insult, we have one of our own kids being the top player in the country at a franchise OT position bolting to AL with 2 other kids from LA and another handful down to LSU and AL.

You think people might be saying WTF???

I think any coach could have done that in that game. Miles took a negative learning experience out of the SECCG that year: if we keep pounding the ball, eventually the defense will break and we'll go on to victory. Every team was loading the box against us, Saban didn't do anything different. The only thing he did that was unexpected was open his own offense a bit, but our defense was still holding their own through the 4th quarter. Bama's defense didn't break like every other defense did that year.

I'm nearly 100% sure if he would have stayed her at LSU

Again, explain to me why we regressed in '04 and only had that one great season in 5 years.

I'm not butt-hurt over Saban. I guess I'm butt-hurt over the butt-hurt if you will.

This is proving my point. When Shula was at Bama, this didn't happen. Ed Orgeron was a terrible HC at Ole Miss, but he's known as a great recruiter. Even as such, he couldn't lure the LA talent to Ole Miss because they don't have the resources/tradition of Bama.

This.LSU wouldn't be where it is today without Saban. And if you think where LSU is today is a bad thing, I feel sorry for you.
