Look, this is NOT Bama's fault.
Bama may be the beneficiary and may encourage this stuff, but Slive and conference are paid big money to avoid outcomes like this which affect the SEC's credibilty. Loss of credibility means less money ultimately, for lots of pretty apparent reasons.
The appearances of this sort of thing were entirely forseeable and avoidable. one of the HUGE questions for Slive is why he did not avoid this self inflicted wound. Is he THAT tone deaf to the Bama bias issues?

In the long run, this hurts Alabama, too.

Understatement!! It's so unfair!! If the schedule was balanced Bama may still win it all, but at least they would have deserved it!

Aside from the Bama advantage, another reason that the article mentioned is every team doesnt get to play every other team with this stupid scenario. How is that a good idea?
If you rotated them yearly, every 4 year player would play a home and home with almost every team. Then you wouldnt have guys like Peyton Manning never getting a chance to play in death valley.
Aside from the obvious reasons for bama fans, why wouldnt the SEC want a nice rotating matchup with Bama/Florida, Bama/Georgia, Bama/SC, etc instead of beating UT every year. Would make for some good tv ratings.

I'm sorry but to say something stupid like we can't change the schedule because we'll mess up someone's wedding plans is bullshite. The SEC office knows the schedule for Alabama is a fricking joke and to not change it is ludicrous. If they can add two teams overnight they can sure as hell change the schedule. I know the writer is trying to give an unbiased perspective but any rational human being knows the powers that be have failed us in creating an impartial schedule. To think there is no bias in that SEC office is as naive as a school kid and Santa Claus
