while i certainly don't disagree with anything he said, heisman should go to best player on either side of the ball. it is the mvp of college football if you will. i dare you to tell me who on their team has been more pivotal at their position. he has been an absolute monster and made plays that are unbelievable.

When you consider that every expert in football says that DEFENSE wins CHAMPIONSHIPS, you would think that the best defensive player should be highly considered for the award...but, let's face it everyone loves touchdowns and points and individual performance shines in those situations hence the offense....anyway, geaux Tyrann, it is honor to even have a tiger on the list

good QBS are gonna be there EVERY year.

This guy is redefining how defense is played. I was expecting a sophomore slump after his mad breakout as a Freshman.
What's Honey Badger dish out this year? More pain!

He does things routinely that many are unable to do EVER. Like , say, force a fumble, recover it yourself, and occasionally take it in for a score.

The Heisman has been a joke for many years.

And the Xbox numbers put up by offenses only add to the illegitimacy.

quote:

The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The Heisman Trophy Trust ensures the continuation and integrity of this award.

The problem with the Heisman is that voters only look at the numbers. Who can really blame them. It would be impossible to watch every game, and critically vote on the best player.
For example, there isn't a stat for the amount of times that a team will not throw to the side of the field that a particular defensive player is on. Look at last year when PP7 was talked about in the Heisman discussion. Many of the highlight videos would show how he would be on an island by himself, and teams would look the other way.
I think luckily for Tyrann, he seems to be put in positions to make those tangible numbers. That being said, I doubt his numbers will look as "impressive" as rushing for +1500 yards with 30 TDs....

Luck, RGIII?

I love HB7, but he's running 3rd for me right now. Luck and RGIII have been magnificent. Russell Wilson has been huge too. This is a tough year, with maybe the deepest class of Heisman hopefuls in a while.

If he continues to make key plays on a path to a national championship he is a contender. No NC - No Heisman...

If we in the nc game, and he averages a td every two games and a forced turnover every game while leading the team in tackles. It might be the single most impressive season by a defensive player ever.
The career record for td's by 5 a defensive player.

I believe if Tyrann continues his current productivity on defense, returns at least one punt for a TD on special teams & LSU goes undefeated with a BCS Championship there is no way he shouldn't win the Heisman as well.
