A great quick read on Sports Illustrated about over-hyped college football teams this season. Ross Dellenger and Scooby Axson give their opinion about the same team. Hint - LSU plays 2 of the teams mentioned in the article.

Which Team's Summer Hype Train for 2019 Should be Tempered?

Sorry if already posted, but didn't find that it was.
Can't wait until September 7th.

I know it's only Georgia Southern, but I hate the thought of people over-looking them.

It was also "only Troy".

Honestly, I think the LSU Summer Hype Train should be tempered somewhat.

I know you are the perpetual troll/contrarian, but (a) is there (other than this board) a significant summer hype train and (b) on what basis should it be tempered?

I don't think anyone not wearing P&G glasses is picking LSU to win at Alabama, which likely would curtail any playoff hopes for LSU. Certainly LSU COULD win at Bama, but no one is penciling that in as a probability to create some sort of undue hype

Otherwise, LSU returns a lot of production from a 10-3 (on the brink of 11-2 with the A&M game) team last year. They supplement that with a top 5 recruiting class. That goes along with a tough, but favorable schedule. LSU trades UGA for Vandy and gets A&M, Auburn and Florida at home. Since A&M joined the league in 2012 LSU is 8-1 combined vs. those three at home. Outside of Bama and Texas, the road schedule doesn't appear daunting (Ole Miss, MSU, Vandy).

At this point in time LSU would be favored in 10, if not 11 of it's 12 games. 10 wins is a reasonable expectation based upon all the information currently available.

If you read the rant the nega-tigers are doing an excellent job of beating down expectations.

I would not consider anything you said as "hype."
Everything you say is pretty reasonable.

Who is hyping up Texas and Tamu though? Don't most polls have LSU ahead of them?

2 things:

1 as long as the team is not overlooking them does it matter that the fans are?

2 it’s the first game of the year so the team will be jacked just to hit someone in a different uniform. I’m not worried about the team being ready to play for that game.

Didn’t you know that the team reads this board?
Wait, maybe that’s only when negative things are on here.
So many insiders and experts on here, it’s difficult to figure out which is when the players see posts.

Texas, USC, Notre Dame.

not that I needed to tell any of you that those 3 teams would start 2019 ranked too high.

In fairness, our previous coach didn’t lose a non-conference game for over a decade.

Our fanbase was spoiled with all the winning.

Didn’t Coach O admit on the Monday after that game that he was meddling with the offense in the first half, when LSU was shutout 17-0??

10-2 is reasonable. 11-1 is certainly possible. The hype from that is that LSU might sneak into the playoffs, but who knows if LSU would still make top 4 at 11-1.

Texas, on the other hand, has an easier schedule and will likely go 10-2 or worse. Mainly because their basically non-existent defense.

So it seems like that has more to do with LSU losing than this notion of “well it’s only Troy”.

I can assure you 11-1 LSU is getting in.

PAC is garbage. Washington is the only team with a punchers chance to get a team in.

B1G is pretty meh outside of Ohio st.

The big 12 is OU and UT, again.

ACC, the conference that just only 3 years ago was supposed to surpass the SEC (lol people were actually writing that in articles) is doodoo.

the real question will be does a 12-1 UGA who just lost to Bama get in over an 11-1 LSU?? My vote goes to LSU, hence, I can assure you 11-1 LSU is in the CFP.

Edit: Notre Dame is going 10-2 this year. Mark it.

Clemson’s gettingnin if they go 12-1 and win the ACC

A 1 loss SEC Champ will get in

OU if they win the Big 12 with only 1 loss is in

A 1 loss Big 10 Champ or undefeated PAC 12 Champ would then be who were dunking it out with at 11-1

ASSURE???????????????????

IF that loss is to Bama and Bama wins the SEC.... Well... I am here to tell you that an 11-1 ND team will be in. and A Clemson will be in. And if Oklahome somehow goes 11-1 and wins the big -12 THEY will be in... Hell I think Washington could run the table... So LSU would be left out... And don't forget about an Ohio State team that if it wins the Big Ten with only one loss THEY are also ahead of LSU...…..

Sorry dude that's just how it works...……..
