According to ESPN the current class is ranked 7th not 4th.

LSU has the most players on Rosters in the NFL the past 3 yrs.

I agree with you about the number of players LSU puts in the NFL including in the 1st and 2nd round, but it’s mainly on defense.

LSU has been hurting on offense over the last several years, why so? How many of LSU’s offensive players made the 1st and 2nd round over the last 6 years compared to Ala, Ga, Ohio St, even the Aggies.

Yes, it’s the scheme that’s keeping Brossette, Jefferson, et al from being All-Americans.

This thread is a debate over LSU’s offense, is the problem coaches schemes or is it the players? Is it the level of QB talent or the lack of quality schemes from the QB’s offensive coach? Is it the lack of talent on offense or is it the lack of coaching? Why can LSU recruit on the defensive side first and second round talent at nearly every position but on offense, just at runningback?

Would you rather have 10 threads debating this or just the one?

There's been a lack of player development on that side of the ball. That is a problem that, according to the evidence, persists.

Don't want that to be seen as bashing. The offensive rankings are what they are. I strongly believe that the head football coach and his staff are working tirelessly to change that.

Miles had trouble signing top ten classes after his 2011 title meltdown.

Hahahahaha!

Miles classes after the 2011 season.

ESPN:
2012 - 14
2013 - 9
2014 - 2
2015 - 10
2016 - 3

247:
2012 - 13
2013 - 6
2014 - 2
2015 - 5
2016 - 2

I noticed in a later post of yours that you referenced ESPN and stated that LSU hadn't made their top 5 in years. I guess you're right if in "years", you mean the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

No excuses for Orgeron in 2019

There shouldn't have been any excuses for him after the 2016 season when he took over the program. Miles had brought in some damn good classes. But some of you guys made up every excuse imageable so o wouldn't be blamed for any of his failures as head coach.

Then how is it that other teams do far better with less talented players than we have?

The simple truth is, it’s a little bit of both. We don’t have any stand out guys starting on our offense. We don’t have any Leonard Fournettes, OBJs, etc. However, they are not scrubs either. They are rated higher as a unit than what most teams have. So what we have is slightly above average (as a whole) players, playing in a system that does not attempt to mask any of their weaknesses or put them in position to be successful unless they out talent the opponent.

I know it’s going to be brought up so “But muh Georgia game”. The answer to that is simple. Our coaching staff, though flawed, is better than Georgias. Kirby Smart is a terrible coach. One of two things is going to happen at Georgia and possibly both. 1: Kirby is going to be recognized as a fraud of a coach and fired within 3 years and/or 2: Georgia will be hit with sanctions by the NCAA within 3 years. Kirby is doing some very underhanded things in recruiting and it’s pissing off a lot of other coaches.

Where’s all that top 5 offensive talent in the NFL? At runningback, just the one in the first round, sure there players in much later rounds, but in the first and second rounds, it’s mostly defensive players.

There’s a reason LSU lags behind on offense and excells on defense, you see why in the NFL, not in high school rankings.

Because we don’t have an offense that throws the ball well enough to get guys drafted even then

Odell
Fournette
Guice and Collins could have been first rounders but off the field stuff hurt them.

The talent has been there.

shite if Chark has 1400 yards receiving and ran a sub 3.4 like he did you think he goes 2nd round?

That's an interesting opinion. They've been to two consecutive SEC championship games, and won the SEC championship in one of those seasons. He took Bama to the brink in the national championship game, and he's a terrible coach?

LSU had one class in the top ten over a five years period under Miles after 2011, just one!

What?

He had 3 in his last five full seasons according to the ESPN site and had 4 in the same time frame according to 247.

quote:

Coach O is about to have two in a row.

Where the hell are you getting your information?

Every site a person can go to (that I'm aware of) has the 2018 LSU class outside of the top ten.

As the head football coach at LSU, o hasn't even had one top ten class on his own. Remember, Miles had a hand in the 2017 class.

I give o credit for keeping that class together, but Miles had put that class together before he was fired.

I believe he was going off of ESPN's recruiting rankings, rankings most people regard as trash.

Fairest way to do it is going off of 247 composite rankings which are

2016 - 2nd
2015 - 5th
2014 - 2nd
2013 - 6th

That's three consecutive top 5 classes.

I saw where he mentioned ESPN in one of his posts, but either way, he's wrong. Even if he goes by ESPN's rankings.

Beginning to think ESPN ‘s rankings aren’t so trashy, LSU’s producing top 5 talent in abundance on defense in the NFL, much less so on offense.

Is it LSU coaches not recruiting the top offensive talent needed as with QB’s, sure hope Parrish changes that perception.

We’ve put a lot of good offensive players in the NFL.
We just haven’t put them in a good offense

You bitch about the offense. Where's the talent along the offensive line? Can you name the all SEC players on the offensive line?
