re: Should we have allowed Canada to coach in Pitts bowl game?

Lets think about it. His impact on our offense by the bowl game would be minimal. We let him coach his guys. they put up big numbers and all the recruits whom aren't early enrollees on offense get to see his work first hand!

oVo, Tiger Khan,
There is not enough time between Canada's hiring and the bowl game for him to evaluate, and teach a new system. It's just not enough time, okay?
I just hope that Pitt's players aren't too deflated about losing their OC and they play like they played against Penn State, Clemson etc., because negatigers will be quick to question Canada's hiring if they don't.
Obviously bowls are a different animal than regular season as players look to go to the next level, some using them as another opp to impress pro scouts, while others playing not to hurt their possible pro careers so....

Remember when Bo Pelini had already taken another job but they 'allowed' him to stay and coach our bowl game?

Who is we? Where you in the room with an opinion when these things were being discussed? By your post obviously not so stfu

Of course. Want to get a look at his offense...

good lord, these are small bowl games - who cares if we have Canada here. What's he going to do - install an entirely new offense in 2 weeks???

of course he should coach his team; put Pitt players first its their Bowl game

We could have used him for some consulting and preparation imo

I'll play. If he were able to go out on the road recruiting, that would be different. But it's better for current LSU team and LSU recruits to see his offense in action, with kids that know how to run it, in a bowl game.
Geaux Pitt!

No we shouldn't have. Huge deal breaker IMO

Meh. It's the dead period, so he can't go out on the road recruiting. He can handle the phone contact from anywhere.
Most new coordinators hired before bowls will observe bowl practices, but don't take over, and certainly don't try and install new sets during bowl prep. I think I remember Auburn doing this for a bowl several years ago (maybe when they hired Franklin to install a spread), but that's the only example that comes to mind.
Bottom line, he isn't missing a ton. He can get up to speed on film and with the players personally as we move toward Spring Ball. And Ensminger can handle calling one more game just fine. This is a non-issue.

You have to respect his loyalty.

Outside of the playoff system, post season games don't mean much in the scheme of things and are really just a time for players and fans to celebrate the prior season. no problem with letting him close out his work at Pitt with the team that he has been coaching.

Loophole: we can call him any time we want and consult about bowl preparation. So he can both coach Pitt and enhance LSU's bowl prep for Louisville

Man this board has gone to shite
Posted on 12/17/16 at 12:33 pm to oVo
If Aranda left, would you want him to coach the bowl game instead of trying to install a new defense for one game?
As for Canada, he could have waited until the 29th to sign the contract and we would have no say in the matter.
There are so many fails in your post!
P.S. How old are you?

This is stupid.
