I see good points made, in fact just about everything is correct- failure to make timely hits, failure to bunt, the field dimensions, etc. Maybe we will consider bunting more in the future, I don't know. But, honestly, have you seen the rest of the UCLA games? Painful & boring! They have used the field to their advantage, in fact, they may be the worse team in Omaha this year, but at the same time, they may win it all. However, in the end, it doesn't matter...they are not going to put an * next to their championship if they win, just because they play boring station to station baseball...

Hitting was fine at .308 as a team!Team played tight and nervous in the tourney and it showed!Fix the focus in Omaha because that is the problem!!

So what I'm saying is don't change. We went 0-2 in this years CWS because our 3,5,& 6 hitters went 0-24, not cause we didn't play "small-ball".

Agree, but the coaches are responsible for scouting the teams we play. It was suppose to be obvious that the UCLA pitchers pitched high in the zone. We chased those all night. A coach has to get them together in the dugout and try to fix that. We win game 1 and it's a whole different CWS. We lost confidence. Oh, and learn to bunt. You need that in your back pocket.

FLAME MATERIAL:

We can't change the bats or the balls or the fences at Omaha. We would certainly like to have better hitting against excellent pitching when we get to the big stage. After all, other teams seem to have success. Some would like to fire the batting coach or even the head coach.

Why not fire the team psychologist if the LSU baseball team has one. Also get rid of the Mouton doll that these kids seem to migrate to when the chips are down. I personally think it is an embarrassment that one of the best baseball programs in the nation has a lavender and yellow doll as a good luck charm. And when they were down in the last game and the TV camera panned the LSU dugout, there was an LSU baseball player stroking Mouton; as if that would bring good luck.

I have a 4 year old grand daughter and when she is having a bad day she may cry a lot. I'd rather see the players crying after a heart breaking loss than stroking a doll.

And is it true that Mouton the doll has it's own locker in the LSU dressing room and rides on the bus and flies with the team to all the games....along with a can or corn? If this is true then the team psychology has to change, and if there is a team psychologist he has to go also.

FLAME AWAY!!!

Good to see the program has gone from being an expected, virtually annual visitor to Omaha and perennial National Champ to being happy winning lots of regular season games against slowly dying in-state programs, the lower half of the SEC, visiting Omaha once every 3 years on average (usually going 2 & BBQ), and winning it all once every 13 years while still claiming a "mystique" and "magic" that is still there .. Glad this is good enough now ..

I posted a couple of very good recent articles in another thread. I think this is a better thread for them.

Basically shows that it is not just LSU fans being upset. The sport itself needs to adjust back to a middle ground. Clemson coach very outspoken about it. Makes great points with good data.

My take is you cant take power hitting out of the equation, it is as important as hitting for average, defense, speed and arm strength. If want to gamble on losing some speed and average for a big slow masher, then that is your right and your strategy. You simply cant take it out of the sport and especially the world series.

I can't believe this thread is still going.

There are some non-thinkers in this thread for sure.

For 1 thing he needs to teach the players how to bunt. The home run days are gone in the college world series in Neb.
