Coming back once a year for a football game is "loving LSU"? Not sure I agree!

Matthew McConaughey makes every Longhorn home game, travels to most away games and frequents most other sports as well. That's loving a school! Attending one home game a year...not so much!

He teaches at UT and lives in Austin. Shaq does not live in Baton Rouge. Big difference. Some of you people always gotta nit pick every little thing. Find something wrong with EVERYTHING.

Not advocating this but if a name change is made it should be The Pete Maravich Assembly Center at Shaquille O'Neal Court. Personally I believe the statue of Shaq is enough, he is greeted with open arms every time he comes to campus and I'm sure Will Wade would love for him to show up for a game.

Not surprised that those geniuses sit around passing laws like this. SO IMPORTANT.

I know exactly what he does and where he lives. He's an old friend! The difference is he chose to live in Austin! But only part time! He has a home in Malibu and a ranch in West Texas. Shaq left BR and never looked back.

And I didn't nit pick or look for something wrong with anything! I simply disagreed and stated my opinion just as you had! Sorry that bothers you!

Don't you think we need to leave something to name after Wade after he wins a national championship?

Will Wade Campus?

When's the last time LSU had a basketball team in general....

LSU has a VERY GIFTED PROGRAM, and hell EVERY LSU Fan is watching them now..... (reality)

Win, and Fan interest will go up, including SHAQ's
Don't be surprised if Shaq shows up for a couple of big games AKA Tennessee

They put together a team in 1909. They have 21 ncaa appearances and 4 final four appearances.

Decent history if you ask me. Could be better and will get better if we keep Wade around. And by keep him around I mean give the man what he demands. Don’t let him run off to a program who will give him everything he wants. LSU has the resources to be a basketball powerhouse. When he took the job he said LSU is a sleeping giant. He knows what he’s talking about.

What an absurd comment. He lives in California, so his kids are probably more likely to go to the UCLA’s of the word asshat. Not everyone’s kids have to attend their parents Alma Mater.

No. The statute is more than enough. Pete was an icon. He set records that will never be broken. Shaq was a great player, but his time at LSU doesn't compare in nostalgia to that of the Pistols. Besides that, Pete's children were all LSU, Shaq's are not. I favor those who are fans of LSU not just the player.

Today's high school kids associate more with Shaq than they do Pete, and most probably don't know anything about Pete.

Shaq is one of the most recognizable personalities in the world.
