Should LSU basketball find a way to incorporate Shaq more?

Pete Maravich has the PMAC. Shaq has that bad arse statue and all but I think the program could honor him a little more. His name needs to be associated with the program more than it is. I’m sure many people forget he even played at LSU.
A name’s sake might be a little much but it would positively change the national perspective about LSU basketball and get the program out of the shadow of the storied football program. Dale Brown court needs to happen as well.
The Maravich-O’Neal Center.
Or get real corny and go with “The PSHAQ” for a nickname.

No. The statute is more than enough. Pete was an icon. He set records that will never be broken. Shaq was a great player, but his time at LSU doesn't compare in nostalgia to that of the Pistols. Besides that, Pete's children were all LSU, Shaq's are not. I favor those who are fans of LSU not just the player.

Shaq loves LSU. He comes back for football games once a year. He’s a basketball icon and is known worldwide. Why shouldn’t the program use that to their advantage?

That’s a good question. All I’m saying is, it seems like it could help the program by having his name associated with it more. Wade can use it on recruits. It could only do good I don’t see any negatives here, but leave it to some of y’all to find something wrong.

Shaq's name, which is a very valuable asset, belongs to Shaq. LSU can't use it without his permission.

While I do think this is inevitable that this will happen, I'm fine if it were not to.
I've heard tell that there is one and maybe more person in a position of authority who would have to sign off on this who said over his dead body. So might have to wait until this person dies. So it may well be that way for Dale as well..it may be after his death.

While for the most part I agree with you, watching Auburn UK last weekend, Charles Barkley made it to their game. But I have seen Shaq a couple times over the past years at hoops games. He does make it down when he can.

Louisiana state law prevents any state owned building being named after a living person. Once Shak dies I am sure he gets a building named after him
