Would have worked out better if the poor girl hadn't been murdered so close to the draft.

Wonder if La'el is considered a public figure?

From what I've read, his lawyer said more damaging things than the BRPD has.

Personally, his lawyer is too weak. A good attorney would have moved very swift on this matter by addressing Collins' issues with police department head-on and take the paternity tests to clear his name while hiring a PI to gather more info. to strengthen his case prior to the NFL Draft.

Most good lawyers have been around the block a few times. As soon as Collins mentioned to him that he knew her, he should have been more assertive to contact the police dept. to see if Collins is needed for questioning.

This is a protocol for the police to do their Q&A. I am not saying their tactic is correct, but what I am saying Collins need to hire a better attorney. This man costs him millions, not just the police dept.

I wish him the best.

His agent's also a freaking moron... How was he not on a flight down here to clear his name the instant BRPD wanted to talk to him?

If he's really not connected to all this, then he comes down on Tuesday/Wednesday, answers the questions, and probably gets picked tonight

ok you don't really know anything so here we go

1. what if it is his baby?
2. even if it isn't his baby that may not necessarily clear his name
3. i don't think you realize that just going in there and saying go didn't do it would clear his name
4. he would have had to get him completely cleared in like 3 days which isn't exactly was.

I know Jim Boren, he is probably one of the most experienced defense attorneys in Baton Rouge, and is widely respected. also he probably wasn't his lawyer when Colins was first contacted. Most people don't have criminal attorneys on stand by. Except criminals.

Defamation probably isn't the way to go. Now an attempt to recoup losses incurred as a direct result of gross negligence and/or recklessness by BRPD may be worth pursuing...

The idiots are out in full force over this issue. If the murdered woman was your relative would you want the police to be concerned about the draft?

Ok first off, he's not a suspect or wanted. The police just want to question him considering it was his ex girlfriend who was pregnant and it could possibly be his child. Police and government / judicial officials don't follow everyone's schedule and bring up a mirder investigation when it's convenient to you. She was murdered last week, during the investigation they learn that Collins used to date her and it could be his child. They ask to question him.

That's it. I mean what is he supposed to do? Not cooperating with police during a murder investigation would look way worse than it does now. There's nothing he can do. And it sucks, but it's the truth. It's just the worst timing possible.

So the police should worry more about screwing over a kid's draft stock than finding the person who killed an 8-month pregnant woman?

Absolutely not! But, they could have easily interviewed him 2 days earlier or later than they did in order to protect his draft status in case he wasn't truly involved. How would you feel if your career was ruined, or you lost millions simply because you dated someone a year or two before they were murdered? I don't know if Collins is guilty or innocent, but 4 years at LSU and I never heard of one incident that led anyone to believe this guy had character issues - shouldn't that earn him a 2 day reprieve from being mentioned by the BRPD?

How do you know they didn't try to interview him 2 days earlier and that they weren't stonewalled?

I'm guessing you don't know shite about Law.

There's absolutely no case here and I am almost never for filing frivolous Law suits against government entities. They fight and pay those lawsuits with tax payer money. Something this state has almost none of and what it does have it needs to keep the doors open.

His agent is the the one who screwed him.

You get a call that your needed for questioning in a murder investigation and your response is, cool just give me a week or so and I'll talk to you whenever?

He should've flown to BR that day, had cameras with him, gave a speech about senseless violence and how he feels for the family, then had brpd issue a statement that he's not a suspect.

This is him and his agents fault. Not the brpd

His attorney is Jim Boren, probably the highest profile criminal defense attorney in Louisiana. He's also probably tried more capital punishment cases than anyone else in the area.

Call me crazy, but I think he knows what he's doing a little more than what the armchair quarterbacks on TD are doing.

How many first round NFL Draft prospect cases has he handled?

Since Collins isn't officially a suspect, unless Boren knows something the rest of us don't, this is all about handling a pr issue.
