The fact that Dale Brown could have this much pull 15 years since he left is incredibly obnoxious.

Yeah the 1980's ended a long time ago.

Tim Floyd would be the top candidate if I were in charge of things.

If he said no...

Well, nevermind. He wouldn't.

I knew you were going to bring back Dale Brown like this was yesterday and relevant today.

Sorry....its the last time we had a consistent winner too. It is the only time you can truly look at the statement that "the fans are great when we are winning" and analyze it.

But that was forever ago and doesn't matter today. Recruits weren't even born when we were good then. They don't care about that and those "fans" sure left in a hurry the last 15 years. Not sure why they should still be dictating our coaching decisions.

Rumored to be $2.5 million. More than twice what he made at VCU this year.

This sounds more legit to me. Either way, I'm surprised he turned it down if this is true. I'll go out on a limb and say there is no way he turned down 3.5 mill to coach Illinois.

LSU has way better fan support when they are winning. Butler is not a better job then LSU.

Butler is in Indiana. They give a shite about basketball in a way that Louisiana does not confer upon its teams. LSU = football.
Butler = basketball

Ft Wayne had a team in the NBA before the NBA became about TV sets.
Ft Wayne is teeny compared to BR. They had a Studebaker factory back when they had a team.

IMO: Butler is a better job if you are from Indiana, as he is.

Dude, I don't want John Jones either. I'm saying our fans support the team when we are consistantly winning. We haven't done that in forever. The fans were already fed up with Brady by the time he made the final four run. I'm not a Bruce Pearl fan, but I will tell that if we had made the NCAA tourny the past 7 years our fan base would take the Basketball program a hell of a lot more seriously. We would be selling out games and the dome would be rocking. I mean, we have the highest attendance in Baseball for fricks sake.....why do you think that is? No one in the entire country outside of La. cares about college baseball.

And? Just because he coached under Dale doesn't make him Dale. You can look at his NT record and see he's clearly not Dale.

Does this all seem a little odd for an Alleva-led search to anyone else? For every other vacancy, the hire ended up being mildly surprising and not who you would think.

Just seems a bit weird that Jones appears to be such a done deal or his name seems to be so prominent. Perhaps the timing of this all is changing the dynamic, but I would hope they'd take their time making sure it was the right guy instead of picking the first one who might be interested.

Hypothetical, but if TJ leaves for another job we have a lot more money to hire the new guy, correct? No buyout for TJ?

Make them an offer they can't refuse.

LSU is a sleeping giant.

Nah, I was just saying that him turning down Illinois wouldn't make me feel like he's an option for us considering they have some good things as a basketball program up there.
