1... One big positive takeaway from the second week (and third practice) was a ton of guys were active in drills that had previously either been absent or were dressed out, but not taking full part in the media viewing window. That included guys like receiver Jaray Jenkins, cornerbacks Raydarious Jones and Damarius McGhee, defensive end Ali Gaye, edge rusher BJ Ojulari and more. Brian Kelly said that beyond receiver Kayshon Boutte, offensive lineman Garrett Dellinger and safety Major Burns, the team is pretty healthy. Now it looks like they are tossing more and more guys into practice for longer stretches as they get to full strength. - Shea

2... LSU redshirt freshman quarterback Garrett Nussmeier’s arm still pops when I watch him throw. Not saying Jayden Daniels or Myles Brennan don’t have arm strength like him, but it was evident last year that Nussmeier can really fire it (one of the biggest differences between him and Max Johnson). I still think it’s Daniels and Brennan primarily competing for the starting job, but Nussmeier’s arm talent is just as good. Side note: Walker Howard is still using a vocal cadence because of his thumb surgery. - Matthew

9... Tuesday was my first chance to get to see Louisiana-Lafayette transfer wide receiver Kyren Lacy, and he's absolutely got the size to play in the SEC this year as a third-year college guy. No big surprise there, but he is a big kid who ran well during drills with the quarterbacks. I also didn't see him with any drops during the time I spent over there watching. As we've noted many times, this wide receiver group is deep with talent. Lots of guys will have the chance to battle for playing time this season.

I can’t freaking wait for fall. This new energy for the football program is very exciting.

Everyone hated on Nuss, but I feel like he would have given Brennan a run for his money.

It definitely feels like Daniels is a guy who can do what they want the best though. We’ll see.

It’s more than just energy, though. Ed zoo’s teams had energy. It’s also a different level of focus. I like it a lot.

Why do you shill for Jayden Daniels in every fricking thread posted about football? Are you related to him?

The only reason I "hated" on him was because I thought he was making a huge mistake by going to the extreme to use his redshirt. If he shows out in the bowl game Daniels might not think that LSU was all that good of an option for him.

He was so worried about playing too much when he might not get the chance to play as much this year.

I’m excited to see the qb competition. It’s a lot of fun. I don’t have favorites. But I do feel like Daniels fits more with what Denbrock likes. That’s all.

Clearly an improvement from the pig show that was Ed Orgeron. I bet it pays dividends on the field.
