What's your best guess? I'm thinking if we go 1-2 against AU then we'll be seeded 8th and play TAM in game 1.

Yep, we will likely win only 1 at Auburn. We need to pray Smith and Labas are back, pray we don't have to face Florida's #1 or #2, and see if we can at least go 2 & 2 in the tournament. That gets us in.

Let's also play WHAT IF. There's nothing wrong with a fan dreaming, right. Let's say LSU finishes the regular season at 33 and 23 overall with a 15 and 15 conf record. WHAT IF we then got molten hot and somehow won the SEC Tournament, ending 38 and 23 ? Would we then host the first-round regional ?

My predictions...

#5Carolina V #12Tenn, winner plays #1 UF

#8UK v #9Auburn, winner plays #4Arkansas

#6LSU v #11State, winner plays #3UGA

#7Vandy v #10A&M, winner plays #2Ole Miss

I think LSU wins TWO in Auburn while Arkie loses TWO at UGA. Ole Miss sweeps Alabama to win SECW.

Playing along, I don't think a .500 SEC record along with winning the tourney will get us a home regional, but I do think sweeping AU with a deep run in the SEC tourney will. IMO a sweep against AU is less likely than us winning the SEC tourney.

Hosting is probably totally out of the question at this point my man. MAYBE, sweeping Auburn and winning the SEC tournament, but even then.

Second round looks like this. So UF would be playing winner of UK and AU in your scenario.

No. 3 vs. Winner No. 6 vs No. 11
No. 2 vs. Winner No. 7 vs No. 10
No. 1 vs. Winner No. 8 vs No. 9
No. 4 vs. Winner No. 5 vs No. 12

No, regional hosting is not going to happen unless we win out and for whatever reason the 1 seed's ballpark didn't meet the criteria. Even if we win out I don't see our RPI jumping out of the 20s, nor do I think we can jump that high in the rankings.

Yeah. Your second round matchups are off. The #1 seed generally gets the winner of the 8/9 game, not the 5/12 game.

Lets not play that. That same thing basically happened in 2010 and we got sent to UCLA. We’re not hosting. That ship has sailed

3 mid-week 1-run losses (SELA, ULL, Tulane) and 3 conference 1-run losses (Vandy, Ole Miss, Arky) and you're sitting at 39-17 with a Top 20 RPI and a first round bye going into the tournament, where 2-2 gets you to 41-19 and a host.
Not far off. But not happening this year.
